More than 18 billion VND to implement gender equality and solve urgent problems for women and children

From 2022 to present, the whole province has disbursed more than 18 billion VND to implement Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" under the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2030.

Of which, the provincial level disbursed more than 4.4 billion VND and the district level disbursed more than 13.6 billion VND.

The management and use of funding sources are ensured in accordance with current regulations and guidelines and have achieved practical results. Specifically, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has organized training to improve leadership and management skills for 75 female cadres; trained 35 female teachers on Project 8; organized 370 communication sessions on the contents and activities of Project 8 and 145 communication sessions on gender equality; trained nearly 3,000 cadres in the political system, village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people in the area; supported the implementation of 4 policy packages to support women in safe childbirth and child health care.

The Provincial Women's Union organized "Exchange of communication initiatives on gender equality, eliminating gender stereotypes and preventing and combating domestic violence" in 2024.

In addition, the association at all levels has also established 534 models of "Community Communication Teams", "Leaders of Change" Clubs, "Trusted Addresses" in the community. At the same time, it has supported the establishment of 34 cooperatives, 49 cooperative groups, and women-led associations, creating stable jobs for more than 1,000 members and female workers; coordinated the organization of nearly 1,200 vocational training classes on civil sewing, veterinary animal husbandry, and cultivation... for more than 51,000 female workers; introduced jobs to more than 31,000 women working in local enterprises and industrial parks in and outside the province.

The implementation of Project 8 in the area has gradually had a positive impact on the lives, raised awareness, changed the "thinking and working style" of women in particular and people in the community in general, contributing to promoting gender equality in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
