Successful surgery for patient with "giant" tumor in head

The patient is YTK (male, born in 1967, Ea Khit hamlet, Ea Bhok commune, Cu Kuin district) admitted to the Central Highlands General Hospital on May 17 with symptoms of severe headaches, a tumor in the right temporal region since childhood. About a month ago, the patient's tumor grew very quickly and caused itching.

After examining the patient and performing paraclinical tests such as: CT scan of the brain, blood test, ultrasound, chest X-ray, electrocardiogram... doctors of the Neurosurgery Department, Tay Nguyen General Hospital consulted and scheduled the surgery for May 21.

The "giant" head tumor of patient YTK was successfully operated on by the Department of Neurosurgery, Tay Nguyen General Hospital.

The surgical team included Dr. Huynh Nhu Dong, Head of Neurosurgery Department, and Dr. Le Huu Hoang. After more than 1 hour of surgery, the entire tumor measuring about 15 x 10cm was removed and pathologically examined. One day after surgery, the patient was awake, had much less pain, could walk, and ate well.

Doctor CK II Huynh Nhu Dong, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery - Tay Nguyen General Hospital said that this is the largest head tumor recorded at the hospital so far. Some common types of head tumors are: dermoid cysts, lipomas, hemangiomas, neurofibromas, subcutaneous fibromas... Head tumors that are too large will compress the nerves and cause pain. In addition, a tumor appearing in the head will make the patient confused and worried, which can seriously affect their health. Patients with head tumors should go to the doctor early for examination, disease screening and early treatment.
