An Giang students return to school on August 29

GD&TĐ - The People's Committee of An Giang province has just issued a timetable framework for the 2025-2026 school year for preschool education, general education and continuing education in the province.

Accordingly, all levels of education from Preschool Education , General Education and Continuing Education in An Giang province will return to school on August 29 and start the new school year on September 5.

Specifically, the school year 2025-2026 will start on August 29. Grades 1, 9, and 12 will start on August 22.

Kindergartens, Primary schools, Secondary schools, High schools, Continuing Education Centers, and Continuing Vocational Education and Training Centers prepare for the new school year by stabilizing order, organizing review sessions; proactively preparing facilities and necessary conditions for the new school year and the opening day.

All units and schools in An Giang province will hold the opening ceremony on September 5, 2025.

The decision also requires that the 2025-2026 school year schedule must ensure 35 weeks of actual study.

Semester I has 18 weeks of actual study, starting from September 8, 2025 and ending on January 10, 2026; Semester II has 17 weeks of actual study, starting from January 12 to May 23, 2026.

Educational institutions with a large number of Khmer ethnic students in communes, wards, and special zones; and Ethnic Boarding Schools are arranged to have flexible holidays for Sen Don-Ta and Chol-Chnam-Thmay holidays, ensuring the educational plan of the unit.

Consider recognition of completion of primary school program and consider recognition of secondary school graduation before June 30, 2026.

Complete enrollment in grade 6 and grade 10 for the 2026-2027 school year before July 31, 2026.

Provincial-level competitions for excellent middle and high school students, competitions for excellent 12th grade high school student teams to compete at the national level and other provincial-level competitions, contests and competitions are conducted according to regulations and instructions of the Department of Education and Training.

National exams and high school graduation exams for the 2025-2026 school year according to the exam schedule of the Ministry of Education and Training .

The People's Committee of An Giang province requested the Department of Education and Training of An Giang to base on the actual situation of each level of education to direct the development of appropriate teaching plans; decide to let students take time off from school in case of extreme weather, natural disasters and arrange make-up classes; ensure teachers' leave time during the school year (teachers' annual leave is taken during the summer or arranged alternately at other times of the year to suit the specific characteristics of the unit and locality).
