At the conference, Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Kien Giang province Nguyen Hoang Thong and Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board, Director of the Department of Home Affairs of An Giang province Nguyen Nhu Anh briefly reported on the progress of the implementation of the arrangement of administrative units at the commune and ward levels; the merger of provincial-level administrative units of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces. Through collecting opinions from voters and people on the arrangement of administrative units at the provincial and commune levels, voters highly agreed on the policy, many wards and communes of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces achieved 100% consensus.

Head of the Organizing Committee of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee Le Thanh Hung approved the draft plan to implement the policy of merging An Giang and Kien Giang provinces into An Giang province. Accordingly, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee established 6 working groups to assist the Steering Committee in implementing the policy of merging the provinces.

In the spirit of democracy, the leaders of the two provinces focused on discussing related issues, such as: Working facilities, new organizational structure, plans for arranging cadres, civil servants, and public employees; support policies and regimes (accommodation, means of transportation, etc.) when implementing the arrangement of administrative units so that cadres, civil servants, and public employees can work with peace of mind. Operation, direction, socio-economic development plans; implementation of political tasks in 2025 after the merger; coordination in building political reports to serve the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025 - 2030 term. Document storage and digitization, etc. At the same time, key leaders of the two provinces jointly reviewed directive documents, analyzed advantages and difficulties, and proposed optimal solutions for the merger.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang acknowledged and highly appreciated the opinions of the delegates and the working spirit of the Steering Committee members in carrying out a large volume of work, ensuring completion time. Comrade Le Hong Quang requested that the professional agencies of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces fully absorb the opinions of the delegates at the conference, to adjust, supplement and perfect the plan. The next steps will be implemented according to the agreed roadmap, ensuring publicity and transparency.

Concluding the conference, Kien Giang Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai requested Party committees at all levels, localities, and units of the two provinces to coordinate in drafting documents to be completed before the grassroots Party Congress (term 2025 - 2030). Speed ​​up the progress of data digitization. Strengthen propaganda work with focus and key points at each time on the progress of merging, arranging, and reorganizing provincial administrative units. Assign the Standing Deputy Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committees of the two provinces to directly handle arising work in departments, localities, and units.

Leaders of agencies and localities, especially heads, must set an example, uphold the sense of responsibility to operate the apparatus, and complete assigned tasks well” - Comrade Nguyen Tien Hai emphasized.
