Within the framework of his working trip to attend the G20 Summit and bilateral activities in South Africa, on the afternoon of November 22 (local time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
During a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the Secretary-General's efforts in connecting the G20 with global goals and supporting developing countries in implementing the SDGs.
Secretary-General Guterres thanked Vietnam for successfully hosting the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention on Cybercrime; affirmed that Vietnam's invitation to attend the G20 for two consecutive years is a testament to the prestige and increasingly important role of Vietnam in global issues. He deeply sympathized with Vietnam about the damage caused by storms and floods and said that the United Nations will support Vietnam to overcome the consequences.
During a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked Australia for providing more than 3 million AUD to help Vietnam overcome the consequences of storms and floods; and affirmed that Vietnam values the comprehensive strategic partnership.
The Prime Minister suggested that both sides effectively implement the Action Program, maintain high-level dialogue, promote two-way trade to soon reach 20 billion USD and facilitate goods to access each other's markets. Vietnam also hopes to expand cooperation in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, AI, green technology and cultural exchange./.
