The International Conference on Rural Tourism discussed many key issues.

Speaking at the closing session, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism - Nguyen Trung Khanh said that the delegates attending the conference created a space for multi-dimensional, lively and inspiring dialogue; at the same time, they demonstrated a strong commitment to the sustainable and equitable development of rural communities around the world .

The conference discussed many key issues related to rural tourism globally - a sector with great potential but also facing many challenges.

The key issues raised on the agenda were the role of tourism in shaping inclusive development in rural areas; the importance of appropriate policy formulation; enhancing local community participation; harmonious benefit sharing, and promoting innovation in product development.

The conference also raised major strategic issues from finding sustainable finance and investment solutions, integrating agriculture into the tourism value chain to building capacity and empowering disadvantaged groups to participate in tourism development.

At the same time, sharing practical experiences of members of the UN Tourism Best Villages Network from different geographical areas.

"The achievement of today's conference is not only in making practical recommendations to turn tourism into a driving force for rural development but also in the spirit of cooperation and connection.

It can be affirmed that the conference has expanded the international cooperation network on rural tourism, connecting stakeholders from state management agencies, local communities, organizations, businesses and large financial partners to create a foundation for long-term cooperation," said Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh.

According to delegates attending the conference, the first international conference on rural tourism has ended but the journey of developing rural tourism has just begun.

In the coming time, UN Tourism will continue to play a leading role, as a coordinator to help countries grasp more information, knowledge, orientation and pay more attention to rural tourism.

First of all, policies will be developed and completed to ensure that rural tourism not only develops but also brings direct benefits to local communities.
