Thai Nien Mother Temple is located in Thai Nien village, Thai Nien commune. The main worshiped figure of the temple is the First Mother of Heaven, whose incarnation is Mother Lieu Hanh. The First Mother of Heaven is the main deity in the temples of the Three and Four Palaces of the Vietnamese people. People often call her Duc Quoc Mau or Quoc Mau Vuong Ba. The main festival of the temple is on the third lunar month.

Thai Nien Temple was built very early, before the French colonial period in Lao Cai and the construction of the 1m gauge Dien Viet railway as it is today. Therefore, the construction time was most likely before 1886 when the French occupied Bao Thang. Through many historical periods, up to now, the temple has had 5 head priests taking care of the temple. The temple was also moved due to the French mining, the ore winch moving across the river and at one point burned down. In 1980, the temple was built with self-made bricks until today.

At the workshop, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism chaired the discussion and asked for comments from agencies and units on the following dossier contents: History of the relic; relic map (zoning map, general plan drawing, map showing directions to the relic).

At the workshop, people, especially the elderly who have lived in Thai Nien village for many years, expressed their opinions and presented many important evidences to affirm the great values of Thai Nien Mother Temple.
