The Embassy of India in Hanoi, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Hanoi People's Committee, organized the International Yoga Day event at the Martyrs Monument near Ba Kieu Temple, Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi at 6:00 a.m. on June 18, ahead of the 9th International Yoga Day in 2023.

The slogan of this year's International Yoga is "Yoga for the world family".
The United Nations General Assembly in December 2014 declared June 21 as International Yoga Day (IDY) to promote healthy lifestyles worldwide.
Mr. Luu Van Duc, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam - India Friendship Parliamentarians' Group; Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council; Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council; Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and representatives of leaders of ministries and branches attended the event and participated in a yoga performance.
More than 1,000 yoga practitioners and lovers attended the event.
On the same day, the Embassy of India in Hanoi and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City also organized Yoga events in coordination with other provinces and cities including Quang Tri, Bac Giang, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Dak Lak, Bac Lieu, Vinh Long, and Kon Tum.
