On July 26, in Lam Dong province, the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province to organize a preliminary review of the coordination work in management and connection of consumption of safe agricultural products and food between Ho Chi Minh City and Lam Dong province.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, there are currently more than 100 vegetable and fruit production and processing facilities located in the province supplying supermarket systems and wholesale markets in Ho Chi Minh City .
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety has confirmed 19 safe food chains of Lam Dong province, supplying more than 19,800 tons of vegetables and fruits per year, and more than 8,800 tons of pork per year to the Ho Chi Minh City market.
Lam Dong currently has more than 107 thousand hectares of high-tech agricultural production; more than 149.7 thousand hectares certified for safe and sustainable production; 960 export growing area codes and 33 packaging facility codes for key agricultural products, meeting export requirements; aquaculture output reached more than 31 thousand tons, exploited aquatic products reached 249.8 thousand tons; the whole province has 647 large-scale pig, cow and poultry farms and more than 1,000 medium-scale farms; there are 2,699 establishments and enterprises for preliminary processing of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products.
Currently, Lam Dong province has 934 OCOP products, including 927 3-star products and 90 4-star OCOP products; more than 700 products use the brand "Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from the good land".
According to the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City, up to now, Lam Dong province has 18 establishments participating in the "Safe Food Chain" Project for vegetables, fruits, and pork products supplied to the Ho Chi Minh City market.
Of which, 12 vegetable and fruit establishments participate in the chain, with a total output of more than 19.8 thousand tons/year, accounting for 88.9% of the total output of the vegetable and fruit chain, and 6 pig farming establishments, with a total output of 8,081 tons/year, accounting for nearly 7% of the total output of the pork chain of establishments participating in the project to supply to consumers in Ho Chi Minh City.
Up to now, there are 59 Lam Dong agricultural product suppliers participating in the program "controlling the quality of goods in Ho Chi Minh City", abbreviated as "blue tick of responsibility".
In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety took 332 samples of vegetables, tubers, and fruits originating from Lam Dong to test for pesticide residues; the results showed that 331/332 samples were safe.
Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety Pham Khanh Phong Lan said that the upcoming plan is to continue implementing the Project to build a pilot model for food management according to the "safe food chain" between the City and Lam Dong province; organize inspection and supervision of food safety for products in Lam Dong province consumed in Ho Chi Minh City; deploy coordination program No. 1 in 2025...
Accordingly, the two sides will implement specific related contents according to the plan, ensuring food safety of agricultural supply chains consumed in the Ho Chi Minh City market.
