More than 20 billion VND in loans to ethnic minority areas

(QBĐT) - Mr. Tran Van Tai, Director of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) - Quang Binh Province Branch, said: Currently, the outstanding balance of lending programs for ethnic minority areas in the province has reached VND 20,640 billion, with more than 763 ethnic minority customers receiving loans.

From loans, many ethnic minority households have invested in production models, creating jobs and income.

Some programs have large outstanding loans, such as: Loans for ethnic minority areas according to Decree 28/ND-CP, outstanding loans to date have reached 10,334 billion VND, with 197 customers receiving loans; loans for afforestation and livestock development according to Decree 75/2015/ND-CP, outstanding loans to date have reached 4,279 billion VND, with 91 customers receiving loans; loans for ethnic minority areas according to Decision 2085/2016/QD-TTg, outstanding loans to date have reached 4,244 billion VND, with 103 customers receiving loans...

Most of the customers who are ethnic minorities, after receiving loans, invest in livestock production models, afforestation... Many models have helped ethnic minorities have stable income, thereby gradually escaping poverty sustainably and no longer having the mindset of waiting and relying on state subsidies.

In order for the lending programs for ethnic minority areas to be effective, in the coming time, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies - Quang Binh Branch will coordinate with departments, branches, local authorities, and socio-political organizations to continue to disseminate policies and lending programs to ethnic minority areas, and at the same time promptly disburse loan packages to help people have capital to invest in developing production models.
