The My Thuan Project Management Board has just submitted the results of the pre-feasibility study for the investment project to build the Ha Tien – Rach Gia – Bac Lieu expressway to the Ministry of Transport.

Accordingly, the total length of the project is over 175km, with 4 lanes and a design speed of 100km/h. Of this, the section through Kien Giang is 82km long, Hau Giang 18km, Soc Trang 13km, and Bac Lieu over 25km.

The expressway starts at the Ha Tien border gate (Kien Giang province) and ends at the connection with National Highway 1 in Bac Lieu City (Bac Lieu province).

The total investment for the project is approximately 80,836 billion VND from the state budget, with construction expected to begin in 2026 and be completed in 2030.

According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, the project connects with the north-south expressways (Lo Te - Rach Soi and Can Tho - Ca Mau) to enhance the trade of goods through the Ha Tien international border gate, the Cambodian border area with the Mekong Delta provinces; making an important contribution to socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security.

Currently, in the Mekong Delta region, the Ministry of Transport is implementing 9 nationally important transport projects, with a total investment of approximately 106,000 billion VND, of which 8 out of 9 projects are under construction.

The journey of bringing sea sand inland for the construction of the North-South Expressway : Sea sand extracted in Soc Trang is transported close to shore, pumped with water to reduce salinity, and then delivered to the expressway construction site, helping to speed up the project's progress.
