The crew hopes to create a Vietnamese-Korean co-production that is close and friendly to the audience with an emotional story about family - a familiar element that anyone, regardless of language or nationality, can understand and sympathize with.
Director Mo Hong-jin shared: "After releasing the film Prisoner's Last Wish 2037 in 2022, I came to Vietnam for the first time in November of that year and began to have feelings for this country. As a lover of family films, I wanted to tell a warm and humane story in Vietnam. In addition, I felt that the culture of this country was developing extremely strongly, so I also wanted to accompany that flow."
Abandoning Mother shows the psychological struggle between love and responsibility of a child in the process of taking care of an elderly mother. The film's title arouses curiosity about the character's final decision and raises the question: When love becomes a burden, what will you decide?

Besides the names of talented Vietnamese actors, there is Jung Il-woo, a Korean actor who participated in this Vietnam - Korea cooperation film. The male actor is affectionately called "Vietnamese son-in-law" by Vietnamese audiences after a series of famous films: Family is Number 1 ( Unstoppable High Kick ), 49 Days ( 49 Days ), Moon Embracing The Sun ( Moon Embracing The Sun )... In particular, after the cross-Vietnam trip that caused a stir on social networks in mid-2024, the name of this male star became known to more and more Vietnamese audiences.
"I wanted to participate in the film because Vietnam and Korea don't have many collaborative projects like this. That's why our film will mark a new beginning. We really want to bring a film that you won't regret watching," Jung Il-woo expressed.
