Economic corridor cooperation has facilitated the increase of trade and investment between Vietnam and China. Measures to promote trade standardization and create fair conditions for businesses of both countries have helped strengthen business cooperation. In the field of transportation, in November 2022, China and Vietnam announced in the “Joint Statement on Further Strengthening and Deepening the China-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership” that the two sides agreed to complete the review of the Hanoi-Hai Phong standard gauge railway planning as soon as possible, and focus on negotiating an agreement to promote the Hanoi-Lao Cai-Hekou railway connection plan.

The two sides cooperated to promote the connection, propaganda and promotion of tourism images. On March 28, 2023, the Hanoi Department of Tourism coordinated with the Departments of Tourism of the provinces and cities: Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong together with Hong Ha district, Yunnan province (China) to organize a conference to promote the relaunch of the golden tourism route "Two countries - Six destinations" of China and Vietnam.

On November 13, in Hanoi, the Hanoi People's Committee chaired the Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference of 5 provinces and cities: Lao Cai, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh (Vietnam) and Yunnan Province (China) (abbreviated as the Vietnam - China Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference), with the theme "Expanding forms of association and cooperation between provinces and cities of the Vietnam - China economic corridor to develop the economy in the new situation".

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized that Vietnam consistently identifies friendly cooperation between localities as an important component of the Vietnam-China strategic cooperative relationship. Over the past time, the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam have always paid attention and had many policies and guidelines, creating conditions for localities in the Northern region to develop rapidly and sustainably and strengthen cooperation with localities of China. Emphasizing that the two countries are facing great opportunities to strongly promote cooperation in the economic corridor of 5 provinces and cities, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the two sides make the most of the potential, strengths and cooperation space. Focus on improving the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms, along with joint research and exchange to establish new cooperation frameworks and models, suitable to the potential, advantages, conditions and development priorities of the localities of the two sides. Continue to firmly consolidate the peaceful and friendly border, promote the opening and upgrading of a number of border gates in accordance with the planning and development plans for each period, creating more favorable conditions for people in border areas to settle down, make a living and increase trade.

On the Chinese side, Ambassador Hung Ba affirmed that China is willing to continue to deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation with Vietnam, promoting the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries to continuously develop to a new height: Currently, China is accelerating the construction of a new development layout, promoting high-quality development, Vietnam is accelerating the process of industrialization and modernization. The cooperation between the two sides is complementary, outstanding and has great potential, the cooperation between Yunnan province and Vietnam is promising. Hope that the parties will actively implement the important common perception between the leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, coordinate and exchange more closely, make good use of the economic corridor cooperation to connect comprehensive cooperation, promote cooperation in all fields between the five provinces and cities of the two countries, achieve more substantial results, and contribute more to the development of China-Vietnam relations.

Chairman of the Yunnan Provincial People's Political Consultative Conference Liu Xiaokai affirmed that the two countries have cooperated in many fields in recent times, and the relationship has developed strongly. Over the years, China has always maintained its partnership and trade cooperation with Vietnam. In particular, it has promoted the construction of the "Belt and Road" and "Two Corridors, One Belt". Vietnam is also China's largest trade partner and cooperation partner in the ASEAN region. The partnership has continuously deepened, creating opportunities for provinces and cities in the spirit of win-win cooperation.
