Huawei Mate 60 outsells iPhone 15 in China

According to GizChina , the latest report from Counterpoint Research shows that Huawei has sold 1.6 million Mate 60 phones after its launch, more than the iPhone 15 series in the Chinese market. However, the Mate 60 series was launched a few weeks before the iPhone 15 series.

Mate 60 series sales are quite strong in the Chinese market

Counterpoint Research couldn’t give an exact figure for how many Mate 60 models have been sold, but it noted that Huawei shipped 1.6 million units in just six weeks. That’s a huge number of models sold in a relatively short period of time.

Previously, analysts estimated that iPhone 15 shipments in the first 17 days were down 4.5% compared to the iPhone 14. While iPhone sales fell, the popularity of the Huawei Mate 60 increased. Now, a 4.5% drop may not seem like much, but this small percentage is equivalent to millions of units.

China is important to Apple because it is the region where Apple ships the most iPhones. But with the Mate 60 series resurgence, things are not looking good for current iPhone models in China.

More importantly, Huawei has ramped up production of the Mate 60 series to ensure adequate supply, but again, the manufacturer behind the Kirin 9000S chip, SMIC, currently lacks access to advanced EUV machines, which puts it at a disadvantage in supplying chips to Huawei.
