The meeting aimed to assess the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, and at the same time identify key tasks in the coming time.
Since the beginning of 2025, Can Tho City has completed 84/167 tasks, and 83 tasks are being carried out on schedule.
In the field of science and technology, the city currently has 73 city-level tasks being implemented and 21 science and technology enterprises in operation.
Can Tho's startup and innovation ecosystem continues to grow strongly, with many outstanding results such as: forming a financial market - venture capital to serve startup activities; connecting 5 regional and local ecosystem networks, along with 23 intermediary support organizations and 6 co-working spaces, supporting startups.
Regarding infrastructure serving science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, Can Tho City has updated and completed the dossier of the Project to establish a High-Tech Park to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision on establishment.

At the same time, the city deployed resettlement support, recovered clean land and established a technical infrastructure investment project to implement the Concentrated Information Technology Park Project.
Regarding the Project to Build Can Tho City into a Smart City in the 2021 - 2025 period, with a vision to 2030, up to now, 12 tasks have been completed, 8 tasks are being implemented and 12 tasks have not yet started.
Telecommunications and Internet infrastructure continues to be invested, expanded and modernized, effectively serving the digital transformation process.
Notably, the city has published more than 540 open data sets, serving the exploitation, analysis and creation of new values in the fields of management, economics and society.
At the meeting, delegates appreciated the city's efforts but also frankly pointed out a number of difficulties and problems in implementing Resolution No. 57.
Specifically, specific mechanisms and policies on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are still not synchronized; some specialized database systems are not yet complete or not connected and shared effectively; high-quality human resources, especially in the fields of information technology, data analysis and digital transformation management, are still lacking.
Delegates proposed many feasible solutions to improve the effectiveness of implementing Resolution 57 in the coming time, and at the same time build a list of science and technology and digital transformation tasks for the 2026 - 2030 period suitable to the city's development practices.
Concluding the meeting, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Quang Tung emphasized: “Implementing Resolution No. 57 is a key political task, creating a foundation for Can Tho to make a strong breakthrough in the new period. The entire political system must be more proactive, creative and determined in implementing the assigned tasks."
Mr. Tung suggested focusing on developing Can Tho into a smart city, promoting comprehensive digital transformation, with special attention paid to supporting communes and wards in applying digital technology, artificial intelligence and virtual assistants in administrative procedure reform.
From now until the end of the year, the city strives to establish the Can Tho City Center for Startups and Innovation at the regional level, and at the same time build satellite spaces to support creative startups in Vi Tan ward, Phu Loi ward and Ninh Kieu ward.
These projects will make an important contribution to the implementation of Resolution No. 13-NQ/TW of the Politburo on socio-economic development orientations and ensuring national defense and security in the Mekong Delta region to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
