Hanoi Department of Construction has just announced the adjustment of traffic organization to serve the construction of the periodic repair project of Long Bien bridge (Km2+215, Hanoi - Dong Dang railway line).
Accordingly, from November 1 to December 31, the entire road for non-motorized vehicles on Long Bien Bridge from Bo De Ward to Hoan Kiem Ward will be banned; vehicles will travel in the alternative direction via Chuong Duong Bridge. On Tran Nhat Duat Street, barriers will be set up to occupy part of the road for construction, ensuring that the traffic lanes are maintained.

The Department of Construction requires investors and contractors to arrange a system of signs, barriers, traffic lights, and traffic guides; closely coordinate with the Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police, local authorities and the City Traffic Management and Operation Center to ensure safety and avoid congestion during the construction period.

Notably, although the total ban on non-motorized vehicles on Long Bien Bridge was announced to start from November 1, in reality, since October 29, the authorities have placed signs prohibiting vehicles from traveling from Long Bien to the city center and this area has also been fenced off to serve the construction, causing many roads around the area to become chaotic and seriously congested.

Nearby roads leading to Chuong Duong bridge such as Xuan Quan dyke, Nguyen Van Cu, Ngoc Lam, Ai Mo... have been congested for a long time due to the sudden increase in traffic. Many people expressed their anger when they were not informed in advance that Long Bien bridge had closed the road for non-motorized vehicles, so they encountered many difficulties when participating in traffic.
