Of these, key, traditional markets maintained a stable number of workers, with Japan leading with 55,049 workers, followed by Taiwan (China) with 47,135 workers and South Korea with 9,996 workers. The number of workers from European markets such as Germany, Romania, Hungary, Russia, etc., remained stable.
It is estimated that by the end of 2025, the number of Vietnamese workers going to work abroad during the 5-year period (2021-2025) will reach 636,000, achieving 127.3% of the plan for the 2021-2025 period (the plan for the 2021-2025 period was to send 500,000 Vietnamese workers abroad under contract).
Currently, there are approximately 860,000 Vietnamese workers employed abroad, primarily concentrated in key markets such as Japan, Taiwan (China), South Korea, and several European countries. Besides maintaining stability in these core markets, new markets like Germany, Romania, Hungary, Israel, and the UAE are expanding rapidly.
Workers who go to work abroad have relatively stable and much higher incomes compared to working domestically in the same profession and with the same qualifications. On average, these workers send home approximately 6.5 - 7 billion USD annually, making a significant contribution to the country's foreign exchange reserves, increasing savings, and improving the lives of workers and their families.
This activity not only brings in a significant source of remittances but also contributes to improving the quality of human resources and spreading the image of Vietnamese people as hardworking, creative, and disciplined. These results are largely due to the significant contributions of over 500 licensed service businesses, many of which have become exemplary models.
These businesses have been proactively expanding their markets, investing in training, strengthening international cooperation, and contributing to the implementation of Resolution 68-NQ/TW on developing a dynamic, integrated, and socially responsible private sector.
