Hue regulates 3 reservoirs to cope with the possibility of heavy rains

Previously, Hue city authorities also ordered to operate and regulate Ta Trach reservoir through the spillway and hydroelectric turbine with a gradually increasing flow rate, avoiding sudden changes of about 300 - 800 m3/s; adjust operations depending on the actual flow situation to the reservoir; time to gradually increase flow rate at 8:00 a.m. on November 12. Operate and regulate Huong Dien hydroelectric reservoir through the spillway and turbine with a gradually increasing flow rate, avoiding sudden changes of about 300 - 700 m3/s; adjust operations depending on the actual flow situation to the reservoir; time to gradually increase flow rate at 4:00 p.m. on November 11.

Authorities require reservoir owners to immediately issue notifications and warnings via sirens and loudspeakers to the downstream areas; at the same time, closely monitor the flow to the reservoir, the water level on the rivers and report regularly. Downstream communes and wards are required to strictly prohibit boating, firewood collection, fishing on the river, except in special cases permitted by the competent authorities, and at the same time notify people to proactively take precautions.

It is forecasted that the total rainfall from the night of November 11 to 20 in Hue city will be generally 500 - 600mm, in mountainous areas 700 - 900mm, in some places over 1,000mm. In particular, from November 15 to 20 and the last days of November 2025, due to the influence of cold air that is strengthened and then supplemented more strongly, combined with high-altitude easterly winds, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places in the city.

According to the Hue City Hydrometeorological Station, heavy rains are likely to cause floods, flash floods, landslides and rock slides in mountainous areas and along rivers and streams. There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas downstream of rivers throughout the city; heavy rains can cause widespread urban flooding throughout the city, especially in the city center. The cold air increases, causing strong winds and large waves at sea, endangering ships and activities at sea and in coastal areas.
