Soft Gate

Yesterday (June 9), the 2025 high school graduation exam inspection team No. 3 of the Ministry of Education and Training , led by Director of the Department of Quality Management Huynh Van Chuong, inspected two exam sites: Viet Yen High School No. 2 and Bac Giang Specialized High School and worked with the People's Committee of Bac Giang province.

Passing through the main gate at each examination site is the “soft” gate. The boundary outside the soft gate is where candidates leave personal items that are not allowed to be brought into the examination room. This area is at least 25m away from the examination room (according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, it is from 20m).

Mr. Bach Dang Khoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Giang province, said that candidates passing through the soft gate will be reminded by the police and security guards the first time about items that are not allowed in the exam room. When they arrive at the exam room, they will be reminded a second time and when they enter the exam room, they will be reminded a third time.

Thanks to those reminders, in the past two exam seasons, Bac Giang has not had any cases of candidates violating exam regulations by bringing unauthorized items into the exam room.

Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, reminded localities to absolutely not be subjective when organizing the 2025 high school graduation exam.

The two testing sites have been fully prepared with facilities, equipment, and means; there are cabinets for storing exam papers and papers with sturdy locks and sealing papers; landline phones with external speakers, security cameras to monitor and record activities, and a battery backup to ensure the cameras can record even in the event of a sudden power outage.

Mr. Le Van Luc, Principal of Viet Yen High School No. 2, said that the glass doors of the examination rooms ensure that from the outside, it is not possible to observe inside the examination room in any form.

Mr. Tran Duy Phuong, Principal of Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, said that this testing site has 936 students from 3 training institutions: High School for the Gifted, Bac Giang Technical College (with high school training), and Boarding Ethnic High School with 40 official testing rooms.

The door system of examination rooms with clear glass adjacent to residential areas or high-rise buildings outside the examination hall has curtains or paper pasted on the glass to ensure exam safety.

To help exam supervisors not be confused or bewildered by the regulations during the exam supervision process, the Bac Giang Department of Education and Training has created a job board for exam supervisors in the exam room for the 2025 high school graduation exam.

Accordingly, for each exam subject, the invigilator follows this board to perform the required tasks in turn. After completing each step, the invigilator ticks the corresponding box. The board is also posted outside the exam room door so that candidates clearly understand the tasks that need to be completed during the exam.

Mr. Ta Viet Hung, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Giang, said that the province's 10th grade entrance exam applies and applies both the 10th grade exam regulations and the 2025 high school graduation exam regulations. The difference is in the question-making stage (the Department of Education and Training sets the 10th grade exam questions, the Ministry of Education and Training sets the high school graduation exam questions).

Therefore, all upcoming high school graduation exam sites meet the facility requirements. The Board of Directors of the Bac Giang Department of Education and Training inspected 100% of graduation exam sites across the province, paying special attention to difficult locations that could be affected by storms.

Mr. Viet Hung affirmed that Bac Giang always has higher requirements than the regulations on ensuring safety and security at the examination site. For example, students' vehicles that are at risk of having equipment must be stored far away from the examination room.

In areas close to residential areas, security forces and youth volunteers are deployed; people around the examination site are encouraged not to allow strangers in during the examination days and to limit activities.

“The regulations require that after 2/3 of the test time, candidates can leave the exam area. Bac Giang has arranged a waiting room for these candidates. Candidates can only leave the exam area after the exam time is up, so the exam papers can only be left after the exam time is up,” Mr. Hung informed.

Absolutely not subjective

Mr. Phan The Tuan, Vice Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Examination Steering Committee, said that the recent safe and serious 10th grade entrance exam was a rehearsal to prepare for the upcoming high school graduation exam.

This year, the Provincial People's Committee is aware that the exam has many differences compared to previous years and is now ready to implement. The first exam ensures safety, compliance with regulations and quality.

Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, emphasized the training of exam supervisors. Students will take the exam according to two programs (generaleducation programs 2006 and 2018).

Bac Giang has more than 400 candidates taking the exam according to the 2006 program and it will be held at one exam location. We hope that the locality will have solutions to encourage these candidates and ensure food and accommodation for candidates from far away. The arrangement of exam rooms and exam papers in exam rooms are two things that this year's invigilators may not be familiar with due to many innovations.

Mr. Chuong requested that localities not be subjective when training exam supervisors on this content. “The 15-minute period between two elective subjects is large enough, if the supervisors are confused, many problems will arise. Therefore, when training, localities need to pay more attention,” Mr. Chuong said. He noted the spirit of safe, serious, secure and friendly exam inspection.

“We cannot foresee the technologies involved in exam cheating, so we need to continue to strengthen supervision at the highest level to prevent negativity as much as possible,” Mr. Chuong shared.

Situations that arise during the exam require a "cool head", calmness, and proper handling of procedures. Instructions will be given to those at whom to report. Do not be hasty, do not handle things on your own. The ultimate goal is to focus on the candidates.

Professor Huynh Van Chuong further reminded that the locality always has backup plans and supports for disadvantaged students (those in difficult circumstances).
