On January 10, a tour guide from Anex Vietnam Trading and Tourism Company Limited took a group of Kazakh tourists on a tour of Nha Trang Bay. The cool weather at the end of the year made tourists from Central Asia very excited. “At this time in our country, the weather is very cold, it snows everywhere. In Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa, it is very warm. We can swim in the sea every day…”, said Mr. Dalgat Zubairov (a tourist from Almaty, Kazakhstan). According to information from travel companies specializing in welcoming international visitors, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa is still the most favorite tourist destination for Kazakh visitors when coming to Vietnam because of its warm weather and low accommodation prices. “Currently, there are 7 flights per week from Kazakhstan to Khanh Hoa with more than 2,000 visitors. Visitors stay from 7 to 15 days,” said Mr. Bui Quoc Dai - Deputy CEO of Anex Vietnam Trading and Tourism Company Limited.
In the orientation of the provincial tourism industry, in 2024, in addition to major tourist markets such as Korea, China, Russia, etc., the industry will continue to expand the market of tourists from Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries. Currently, exploiting the Kazakhstan tourist market is increasingly favorable. In August 2023, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation. In particular, the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Kazakhstan signed an agreement on visa exemption for ordinary passport holders. Accordingly, Vietnamese and Kazakh citizens are exempt from visas for entry, exit, transit, and temporary residence in the territories of the two countries for a period of no more than 30 days. This has opened up opportunities and more favorable conditions to promote the development of tourism cooperation between the two countries. “In 2023, Khanh Hoa tourism welcomed more than 50,000 tourists from Kazakhstan. We believe that with more open immigration policies, along with increased promotion, the whole province will welcome a larger number of visitors from Kazakhstan in 2024,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of the Department of Tourism.
According to Ms. Do Thi Hang - Amega General Trading and Tourism Company Limited, Kazakhstan has more than 18 million people, with an average income per capita of nearly 12,000 USD, making it a very potential tourist market. In particular, with a favorable location connecting Asia and Europe, Kazakhstan is implementing many connection programs and initiatives towards the goal of becoming a transit hub in Central Asia. The signing and implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and Kazakhstan from 2023 not only creates a basis for further strengthening tourism cooperation between the two countries, but also creates opportunities for Vietnam to attract tourists from Central Asian countries when choosing Kazakhstan as a transit point on their travel itinerary to Vietnam. Recently, when flights from Russia to Khanh Hoa were suspended, many Russian tourists traveled to Vietnam via flights from Kazakhstan to Khanh Hoa.
Not only tourism, the province currently wants to promote trade and investment cooperation with Kazakhstan. At the end of November 2023, when receiving Mr. Kanat Tumysh - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee expressed his hope that the Embassy of Kazakhstan will support the promotion of Khanh Hoa to welcome more tourists from this country; hoping that the Ambassador will pay attention to supporting and actively promoting the establishment of cooperative relations and twinning between Khanh Hoa province and Almaty city, Kazakhstan. This will be a bridge to promote diplomacy, investment cooperation, trade promotion and tourism between the two localities. According to Mr. Duong Nam Khanh - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, it is expected that in 2024, the provincial delegation will have a trip to promote investment, trade and tourism in Kazakhstan.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation between the two countries on August 21, 2023, in the coming time, Vietnam and Kazakhstan will strengthen tourism cooperation through exchanging experiences in classifying and managing the quality of accommodation facilities for tourists; sharing information on plans to organize tourism events in each country, encouraging participation in various related events, inviting each other to attend international fairs, seminars and other related international events on tourism. At the same time, the two countries will exchange documents introducing and promoting the tourism potential of each country; facilitate delegation exchanges, connect tourism businesses, support the organization of tourism promotion and advertising activities in both countries; enhance exchange and promotion activities of each country's cuisine; promote cooperation in developing green tourism, digital transformation and application of information technology in tourism development; the two sides will focus on encouraging cooperation in training in the tourism sector.
