Gio Linh district promotes education of patriotic and revolutionary traditions for the young generation.

Over the years, Gio Linh district has always paid attention to effectively implementing the work of educating the tradition of patriotism and revolutionary heroism for the young generation. In particular, through educational activities, the patriotic emulation movement has contributed to political and ideological education, arousing national pride and patriotism as well as creating a good environment for the young generation to express their deep gratitude to the generations of fathers and brothers who have devoted and sacrificed for the Fatherland and the People; having conditions to practice, mature, live with ideals and raise awareness of striving in studying, working, dedicating strength and intelligence to the homeland and the country.

Gio Linh District Youth Union Secretary Nguyen Hong Quan said that political and ideological education work has always been focused on by all levels of the Youth Union in the district with many diverse and rich forms; in which, focusing on doing a good job of propaganda for youth union members to learn about Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle in the spirit of Directive 05-CT/TW of the Politburo, the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State... through political activities, associated with activities to celebrate the holidays of the homeland and the country. The work of educating the tradition of patriotism and revolutionary heroism has been promoted from the district to the grassroots level with many meanings, attracting a large number of union members and young people to participate.

In particular, focusing on peak periods such as the anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam , President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, the successful August Revolution in 1945 and National Day September 2... The activities of "Drinking water, remember its source", "Repaying gratitude" were effectively implemented through organizing traditional activities, recruiting union members and team members at red addresses; organizing "Family meals - Warming motherly love" at the homes of 4 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in the area; visiting and giving gifts to policy beneficiaries, families with revolutionary contributions; taking care of lonely former youth volunteers in the district.

In addition, Gio Linh District Youth Union directed all youth union units to carry out environmental sanitation work, change flowers, incense burner sand and visit 19 martyr cemeteries in the district on War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27, traditional New Year...

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh 's Testament (1969 - 2024) and the 55th anniversary of his death (September 2, 1969 - September 2, 2024), the District Youth Union organized a political activity "Remembering Uncle Ho makes our hearts brighter", and at the same time promoted the implementation among union cadres and young union members to actively study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.

In recent times, the work of educating traditions, ethics, lifestyle, and social skills for children has been effectively implemented by the District Youth Union, the District Youth Union Council, and school teams through the movements "Gio Linh children compete to implement well the 5 teachings of Uncle Ho", the models "Friends helping friends", "Raising piggy banks"...

All the teams in the district have undertaken regular care of cemeteries, monuments, and historical sites; organized specialized activities for children at "red addresses" and many cultural and artistic activities that attracted a large number of team members and children to participate; the recruitment of team members was organized solemnly, innovatively, in accordance with regulations and left a deep impression on the children.

Last year, the District Youth Union and the Youth Unions proactively called for resources to organize the programs "Spring of Love" and "Spring Dream", giving hundreds of gifts to over 840 students in difficult circumstances, with a total value of more than 800 million VND.

It is commendable that the Veterans Associations at all levels in the district always accompany the work of educating students about revolutionary traditions. Chairman of the Veterans Association of Gio Linh District, Hoang Lien Son, said that the Veterans Association of the district identifies the work of propagating and educating the revolutionary traditions for the younger generation as an important task.

Therefore, the association always focuses on coordinating with youth unions and schools to organize talks on revolutionary traditions for students. To make educational activities more meaningful and effective, the District Veterans Association and Gio Linh District Youth Union also coordinate to organize political education, ideology, revolutionary traditions, self-reliance, ethics, and lifestyle for the younger generation; receive and care for graves at the martyrs' cemetery, organize candle lighting ceremonies, and the program "Singing for my comrades to listen" on the evening of July 26 every year to pay tribute to heroic martyrs.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Quan, in order to create an environment for young people to have the opportunity to practice, mature and contribute, Gio Linh District Youth Union has actively organized youth volunteer movements with many rich contents, attracting a large number of young union members to participate.

In 2024, volunteer activities to join hands in building new rural areas (NTM) will be widely deployed with many practical contents, clearly affirming the role and mark of youth in the programs "Winter Volunteer", "Spring Volunteer", launching to respond to "Peak Activity Day to join hands in building NTM, civilized urban areas"...

Volunteer activities to build civilized urban areas are deployed with specific and appropriate content, contributing to improving the landscape and building civilized urban culture. The District Youth Union - Vietnam Youth Union of the district organized the campaign Green Summer, Green March, Red Flamboyant, Pink Holiday 2024 with the following activities: presenting 6 gifts to households in difficult circumstances, presenting the project "Country Road Light", 5 models of "Livelihood Garden", 2 models of chicken breeding livelihood, free medical examination and medicine for people and children in Linh Truong commune.

The Youth Union bases organize projects, tasks, and volunteer activities to help families with meritorious services to the revolution, young union members, and students in difficult circumstances; clean up the environment, repair rural roads, collect and treat waste, etc.

During Youth Month, the district youth union carried out 4 projects and more than 10 tasks at the district level; the grassroots youth union carried out 10 projects and more than 160 tasks; supported 4 livelihood models for youth and 10 economic models with loans to create jobs with a total amount of more than 1 billion VND.

Volunteer activities to ensure traffic safety and order, protect the environment, and respond to climate change are regularly and effectively carried out by all levels of the Youth Union. These achievements are vivid evidence and motivation for the young generation of Gio Linh to continue the heroic revolutionary tradition of their homeland.
