Lac Son district receives certificate of provincial-level relic ranking for ancient carved stone beach at Co stream, My Thanh commune

Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded the certificate of ranking the ancient carved stone beach at Co stream, My Thanh commune to Lac Son district.

The Stone Beach relic with ancient carvings at Co stream, My Thanh commune has special and typical historical and archaeological value with 2 stone blocks with ancient carvings that scientists have determined to date from prehistoric times, about 2,000 years ago. Along with the Stone Beach relic are annual cultural and religious activities taking place, notably the "plowing" ritual.

Through the ups and downs of history, the relic still preserves and conserves ancient carvings of indigenous people, marking the exploration, renovation and compatibility of humans with the natural environment in the land. From an archaeological perspective, the symbolic carvings at this Ancient Stone Field are among the very few works of art with the artistic imprint, stone carving techniques of prehistoric - early history, objective historical and ethnographic sources, truthfully through carvings about the thinking, beliefs, material and spiritual activities of a community, in a historical period, is a new development in the thinking and awareness of ancient residents living around the core area of Hoa Binh province, where many original relics of the "Hoa Binh Culture" are distributed.

During the process of formation, existence and development with historical, cultural, scientific and tourism values, the relic of the Stone Field with ancient carvings at Suoi Co was ranked as a provincial-level archaeological relic by the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province according to Decision No. 2628/QD-UBND, dated December 3, 2024. The organization of the ceremony to receive the relic ranking certificate aims to honor the value of cultural heritage, encourage local Party committees, authorities and people to continue to preserve, promote and effectively exploit the value of the relic, attracting tourists to visit and learn.
