Despite the fact that there was a lot of work to be done when arranging and streamlining the apparatus, with the determination and close supervision of the Steering Committee for the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Phu Tan district (referred to as the District Steering Committee), the program was implemented very urgently and effectively, bringing joy and new hope to poor households, near-poor households and policy families.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nam, 75 years old, is the daughter of a martyr (who is worshiping 2 martyrs and a Heroic Vietnamese Mother), Binh Tay hamlet, Phu Binh commune. On the day the new house was handed over, Mrs. Nam was moved: “Many years ago, I followed my son to work outside the province, the two of us lived in a rented house, and the house in the countryside was seriously degraded. Now that I have returned to live, every time it rains heavily or there is a strong wind, I am always worried about safety. Since the day the government came to build the house, I have been so happy that I have not been able to sleep”. The new house built for Mrs. Nam's family has an area of 52 square meters, with a brick floor, walls, and a corrugated iron roof, with a total construction cost of over 75 million VND. Of which, the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee mobilized 60 million VND in sponsorship, the rest was contributed by the locality and the family.

When implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, the Steering Committee of Phu Tan district organized propaganda and a launching ceremony to call on individuals and enterprises to contribute funds with the spirit of "Whoever has something contributes, whoever has merit contributes, whoever has property contributes". Through initial screening and appraisal data, the whole district has 207 households eligible for new construction and repair. At the end of April 2025, the district prioritized the completion of 100% of houses for families with meritorious services (42 houses), with a total cost of over 1.5 billion VND. In May 2025, the whole district completed the construction of the remaining houses, there were 3 cases that could not start construction for objective reasons (the family had no need, the single-parent household had passed away). The total cost of building the houses is more than 10.4 billion VND, of which 3.7 billion VND was mobilized by the locality, more than 3 billion VND was contributed by the family, and the rest was supported by the State.

Handing over houses to meritorious people in Phu Binh commune

The newly built and repaired houses ensure "3 hard" (hard foundation, hard frame, hard roof), suitable for the wishes of each family. When surveying the results of the program implementation in Phu Tan district, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province Ha Minh Trang highly appreciated the implementation and organization of the Phu Tan district Steering Committee in the past time. People and the community have shown enthusiastic response, ready to participate in supporting the movement. The temporary house removal activity has received active financial contributions, construction materials and human resources from charitable organizations and enterprises, creating great cohesion and motivation in the community. In particular, most of the houses have mobilized additional resources to raise the support level to more than 60 million VND/house; many houses worth 100 million VND, after completion, are very airy, sturdy and beautiful.

Among the support sources, the Management Board of An Hoa Pagoda (Phu My town) participated in building and repairing 40 houses, with a total value of 2 billion VND. Mr. Nguyen Van Bach, the head of the house building team, although he is now old, is very dedicated to mobilizing forces to move continuously and urgently through each commune to ensure the progress of the work according to plan. Mr. Bach shared: “This is a very humane and meaningful program of the Government . Therefore, we are willing to contribute to help people soon have a solid and stable place to live. During the construction process, the brothers worked voluntarily, regardless of the weather, rain or shine, everyone was happy to see the people have a new house”.

According to Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Tan district Nguyen Van Binh, the policy of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is one of the major policies of the Party and State. "Skillful mass mobilization" is a decisive factor for success, so Party committees, authorities, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels always focus on innovation and improving the quality of propaganda to arouse the strength of the entire people to carry out this task. To reduce the cost of construction labor, the district Steering Committee mobilized the people, militia and self-defense forces, union members, youth, associations, organizations, and family members to join hands to support. At the same time, it received enthusiastic help from charity house building groups in the area. During the implementation process, the district Steering Committee determined to "work, not retreat", resolute in directing and operating; assigning specific tasks to members...
