The irrigation campaign of Yen Thanh district started from October 14 to December 31, and is expected to dredge 22,931 m3 of excavated construction soil, dredge 45,863 m3 of drainage and internal drainage channels. At the same time, embankments will be built in the area and plots; aggregate and concrete will be poured on internal roads; clearing and cutting grass; consolidating canals... The total mobilized working days will be about 183,451 days.
Speaking at the launch ceremony of the irrigation project, Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Vice Chairman of Yen Thanh District People's Committee said: The main objective of the launch of the irrigation project is for localities to focus on overcoming the consequences of damaged irrigation works after the flood. Dredging irrigation canal systems, clearing the flow of drainage axes and intra-field drainage canals to ensure water drainage, promptly repairing damaged clean water works, and removing water hyacinths on the main drainage canals.
Maintain and upgrade machinery and equipment of stations, overcome violations and encroachment on the corridors of irrigation works. Repair lakes and dams, store water to ensure capacity, and use economically to serve production in the 2022-2023 crop year.
Thereby, reviewing the approved disaster prevention and control plans of lakes and dams; proactively dealing with all possible situations. Carrying out embankments to retain water and continuing to release fish for the third crop in the fields that meet production conditions.
Combine the campaign to launch internal irrigation with the rural transport program, field transport and new rural construction; launch a field sanitation movement to treat pathogens and disease vectors harmful to rice, winter crops, and kill rats and locusts.
Yen Thanh district assigned targets to communes, and at the same time, guided communes and towns to develop plans to organize and implement the campaign to build irrigation works well. Regularly inspect, monitor, urge, promptly summarize and report results to the district People's Committee, provincial departments, branches and sectors, promptly commend and reward units and individuals who do well.
Immediately after the launching ceremony for irrigation, the People's Committee of Van Thanh commune mobilized over 300 workers, along with equipment and machinery to repair the banks, dredging canals at a number of canals in the commune.
