"The Indonesian team has not completed the mission yet, this is not the time to be satisfied"
The President of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Mr. Erick Thohir, affirmed this through a congratulatory but also warning message for the home team. He wrote: "The victory of the Indonesian team over the Chinese team and the victory of Saudi Arabia over Bahrain, have ensured that we advance to the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Asia.
Thank you to all the coaches, players, officials and of course to the passionate fans who fought hard for Indonesian football. But this is not the time to be satisfied, we still have to fight to be able to bring Indonesia to the World Cup".

After the penultimate round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round 3 in Asia on June 6, 3 more teams were officially confirmed to participate in the 2026 World Cup finals. Including Uzbekistan (first-time participant) in Group A after Iran. The Korean team is in Group B with Jordan (also first-time participant).
In total, there are now 10 teams officially participating in the 2026 World Cup, including 3 co-host teams USA, Mexico and Canada, 5 teams from the Asian region that have qualified: Iran, Japan, Jordan, South Korea and Uzbekistan. Argentina is in the South American region and New Zealand is in the Oceania region.
In the third qualifying round of the Asian region before the final round taking place on June 10, there is currently only one place left to enter the 2026 World Cup finals waiting to be determined in Group C, most likely the Australian team (second in the group, 16 points).
Australia only needs a draw or a narrow loss against their direct rivals Saudi Arabia to secure a ticket. Saudi Arabia currently has 13 points, theoretically still competing for the remaining official spot, but they need to win by a huge margin against Australia to overcome their current goal difference of 0 to +8. It looks extremely difficult.

So, if there are no surprises, Australia will be the official 6th team in the 2026 World Cup qualifying round 3 in Asia to attend the finals. With the remaining 2 main spots, it will be a relentless battle in the 4th qualifying round.
In the 4th qualifying round of the Asian region (6 teams), there are now 4 teams officially participating, including Indonesia (Group C), Iraq (Group B), Qatar and UAE (Group A). There are only 2 more spots, including Oman and Palestine (currently competing in Group B), and the remaining spot could be Saudi Arabia.
In the 4th qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia (from October 8 to 14), 6 teams will be drawn on July 17, divided into 2 groups of 3 teams each. Each group will compete in a round-robin at a centralized location. The top team of the 2 groups will win the remaining 2 official tickets from the Asian region to the finals. The 2 second-placed teams in the 2 groups will compete in a play-off, with the winning team qualifying for the intercontinental play-off round to compete for the remaining tickets.
