Jannik Sinner has a chance to match Djokovic at Roland Garros 2025

(Dan Tri) - If he wins the 2025 Roland Garros championship starting in France on May 25, Jannik Sinner has the opportunity to equal Novak Djokovic's achievement.

If he wins Roland Garros 2025, Jannik Sinner will become the second player to win three consecutive Grand Slam titles since 2011, after Novak Djokovic. Previously, the Italian player won the US Open 2024 and Australian Open 2025 earlier this year.

However, Jannik Sinner has not shown his full strength when playing on clay. The Italian star still lacks Roland Garros in his Grand Slam collection and that is why he is not rated as highly as Carlos Alcaraz.

In the final match of the Italian Open 2025 which took place on the evening of May 18, Sinner lost to Alcaraz in two sets. This was the tournament where Sinner returned after a 3-month ban for doping.

Despite being a year younger than Sinner, Alcaraz leads his opponent 7-4 in head-to-head matches, including the last four matches. The Spanish star owns four Grand Slam titles compared to Sinner's three. Alcaraz's Grand Slam win rate is also slightly better than Sinner's (84% compared to 79%) and at Roland Garros alone it is 86%.

After losing 6-7, 1-6 to Alcaraz in the final in Rome, Jannik Sinner admitted his shortcomings: "I felt I missed some important matches. If I could play again, I would definitely handle a few points differently.

But I don't use that as an excuse for defeat. I tried my best in this tournament and now I have a week to rest, recover mentally and physically, and prepare for a more important tournament ahead."

Carlos Alcaraz is having a successful 2025 when he won three tournaments: Rotterdam Open, Monte Carlo Masters and Italian Open. Alcaraz and Sinner are in two different brackets and can only meet in the final of Roland Garros 2025.
