Pep Guardiola has confirmed he will take a break after leaving Manchester City. |
"After my contract with Manchester City ends, I will take a break (as a coach)," Guardiola told ESPN . "I am sure about that. I don't know if I will retire, but I will take a break."
Pep's future was a hot topic last year. However, after Manchester City's poor season, the Catalan coach insisted he was still committed to the Etihad Stadium team. "The failure this season only makes me want to stay at the club longer," Pep stressed.
At 54, his nine years in charge of Manchester City is the longest spell of his career, surpassing his four years at Barcelona and three at Bayern Munich. Guardiola has also signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2027.
However, Pep admitted that his future is still unpredictable: "As a coach, there are always new challenges, I don't know what the future will be, but in the end that's not very important."
Previously, there were many rumors that Pep could consider working in Serie A, or leading the England team after leaving Manchester City. However, the Catalan strategist confirmed that he would temporarily stop working as a coach if he left Etihad.
