As of yesterday, November 9, most major media outlets in the US projected that Mr. Donald Trump would win Nevada, bringing his total number of electoral votes to 301, while Vice President Kamala Harris had 226. Thus, only Arizona (11 votes) remains undecided, but most indicators show that Mr. Trump is likely to win, capturing all 7 battleground states in this election.
Republicans have secured victory in the Senate with at least 53 seats and only one seat is undecided. In the House, CNN projects Republicans are closer to a majority than Democrats, needing only five seats to win, with 18 races still undecided.

Huge advantage
If Republicans gain control of both houses of Congress and the White House, it would be a spectacular comeback for Mr. Trump and his allies, similar to 2017, when he and his party controlled the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives. The unified legislative and executive branches would make it easier for Mr. Trump to implement his America First policy agenda, according to The Times.
The Republican Party's control of the Senate will be a big advantage for Mr. Trump to appoint government officials and judges, because this legislative body approves the nominations of the White House owner. During his first term, Mr. Trump successfully appointed 234 federal judges, including 3 Supreme Court justices, according to CNBC. Mr. Trump's nominations have tilted the balance in the US Supreme Court towards judges with traditional conservative views (6 people), compared to only 3 judges with more open views.
The Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling in 2022, overturning Roe v. Wade, allowing states to decide whether to allow abortion. In addition, in July, the court declared that the former president had immunity from prosecution for official actions while in office, a decision that was seen as a victory for Mr. Trump against prosecution efforts against him.
A Republican-controlled Senate could facilitate the president-elect’s plans for tax cuts, health care reform and energy policy. Meanwhile, the ability to maintain a majority in the House of Representatives also gives Mr. Trump an advantage, as his allies will control the leadership of key committees. Mr. Trump has threatened to investigate political opponents if re-elected , a plan that would be easier to implement if his allies sit in key positions in the House.

100-Day Plan
According to WHYY, House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed confidence in the Republican victory. He said Republicans in both houses are preparing an ambitious 100-day agenda, including plans to reduce taxes, ensure border security and completely eliminate federal regulations that are considered to hinder businesses or economic development. Mr. Johnson also mentioned a Republican plan to move government agencies out of Washington DC, where many federal agencies and departments are concentrated, and change federal employees to make this workforce more effective.
Senator John Barrasso said Republicans are focused on getting the country back on track after being given a “great opportunity” by voters. “With a Republican majority in the Senate, our focus will be on implementing an agenda that reflects America’s priorities: lower prices, lower spending, secure borders and American energy dominance. That’s what we set out to do on day one,” Barrasso said.
