According to Dang Duc Vinh, the best time to visit and take photos in Hallstatt is before 9am. This is when the town is still quiet and has not been affected by tourist groups. The gentle morning sunlight is also a decisive factor in creating photos with the most depth and true colors.

Before 9am : Perfect time to take photos. If you are driving, this is also the easiest time to find a parking space.
After 10am : Public transport such as buses and boats start bringing in large numbers of tourists, making the town crowded.
After 12 noon : You should not go to Hallstatt at this time because it is too crowded, the light is no longer beautiful and it is difficult to fully enjoy the space.

A half-day trip is enough to explore the main features of the town, but if you want to take beautiful photos and experience the tranquility, you should consider staying overnight.
