Connecting four operators, developers and traders of medicinal products

With the theme "Journey to commercialize innovative startup products in the field of agriculture and medicinal herbs", the Forum aims to connect four groups: schools, scientists, managers and entrepreneurs, to exploit the potential of medicinal herbs, develop green agriculture and promote innovation.

Da Nang has more than 1,000 medicinal plant species, many of which are listed in the Vietnam Red Book. In addition to Ngoc Linh ginseng, indigenous medicinal plants such as Codonopsis pilosula, Morinda officinalis, Gynostemma pentaphyllum, Amomum japonicus, Polyscias fruticosa, Solanum procumbens, and Tea vine... all have high medicinal and market value and can become key raw materials for the deep processing industry.

Da Nang's scientific research infrastructure is increasingly strengthened with more than 20 institutes, schools, research centers and a dynamic innovative startup ecosystem.

There are more than 10 enterprises in the area that process and trade products from Ngoc Linh ginseng and local medicinal herbs, creating diverse products such as tea bags, essences, lozenges, wine, honey, and natural cosmetics. The Da Nang OCOP program also has 33 products in the herbal group and 270 agricultural products.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang City, Vu Thi Bich Hau, said: The journey of commercializing research results is not only about production, but also about creating an innovative ecosystem where science and technology, scientists, institutes and businesses work together.

At the same time, Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau also recommended that in order to develop and commercialize medicinal agriculture, it is necessary to strengthen coordination among parties to promote research, incubation and development of Ngoc Linh ginseng products as the core connecting R&D and businesses. Implement a national medicinal trade promotion program, connect Da Nang businesses with domestic and foreign distribution chains; build a digital trading platform for OCOP products and medicinal herbs.

Da Nang has two important Government Decisions: Decision 611/QD-TTg and Decision 463/QD-TTg related to Vietnamese ginseng and medicinal herbs. In particular, Decision 463 identifies Da Nang as the medicinal herb center of the country, aiming to expand to Southeast Asia and the world.

Students learn about startup models and innovative research on agriculture and medicinal herbs.

This is a special mechanism of the Central Government and only Da Nang enjoys this mechanism. The city is currently having a specific plan to implement the above 2 Decisions effectively and practically.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Ho Quang Buu said: "Da Nang has a Resolution of the People's Council to strongly support projects and models of innovation incubation. I also hope that the city government and Da Nang University will coordinate more closely in building, operating and developing models of innovation and startups, in order to create widespread influence."

The forum includes 3 main working sessions and 8 thematic reports with contents focusing on the potential for medicinal agricultural development in Da Nang; high-tech development orientation; Ngoc Linh ginseng tissue culture method; product start-up and commercialization, introducing the journey of innovative start-up enterprises, capital calling platforms and the role of investment funds in bringing research products to market.
