On the afternoon of April 28, information from the People's Committee of Thu Thua district, Long An province said that local forces and authorities had basically supported people to repair and re-roof houses that were blown off by storms.
Earlier, on the afternoon of April 24, a thunderstorm with strong winds passed through the area of Long Thuan and My Lac communes, Thu Thua district, causing the roofs of 71 houses to be blown off. In addition, it also caused a number of electric poles along the traffic route to fall and tilt.
Immediately after the weather stabilized, local police, military and militia forces quickly arrived at the scene, coordinated to support people in repairing and re-roofing damaged houses. The district electricity sector also urgently sent staff to inspect and handle the situation, ensuring power supply.
Currently, the People's Committees of Long Thuan and My Lac communes have visited and encouraged affected families; at the same time, they have reviewed and made a list to consider supporting households in difficult circumstances to soon stabilize their lives.
Faced with unusual weather conditions at the beginning of the rainy season, local authorities have stepped up propaganda, warnings, and advised people to be vigilant and proactive in preventing and combating storms, tornadoes, lightning, and hail to limit damage to people and property./.
