According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam reaching the milestone of 20 million international visitors in 2025 is the result of a sustained recovery process after the Covid-19 pandemic. Since fully reopening international tourism on March 15, 2022, the number of international visitors to Vietnam has continuously grown strongly. International tourists arrived in Phu Quoc on the afternoon of December 15th.

Notably, in less than a decade, Vietnam's tourism industry has doubled in size, from 10 million international visitors in 2016 to 20 million in 2025. This growth rate is considered among the highest in the world , given that the average global tourism growth is only around 5%. In comparison, during the same period, some major tourism markets recorded more modest growth, demonstrating Vietnam's strong shift from an "emerging destination" to a new regional tourism hub.

The historical milestones recorded in Phu Quoc further affirm the island's special role in the national tourism development strategy. After nearly a decade, many important milestones in Vietnam's tourism history have been chosen to be marked here, reflecting the pioneering position and increasing attractiveness of this destination to the international market.

Phu Quoc is currently one of the fastest-growing tourism destinations in the country, benefiting from visa exemption policies for all international tourists, long stays, and a comprehensively developed tourism ecosystem. The diverse accommodation options and large-scale resort, entertainment, and experiential products have contributed to attracting tourists who stay for extended periods and spend more.
