(Dan Tri) - Beautiful weather and blooming buckwheat flowers have made many tourists choose to travel to the Ha Giang area of Tuyen Quang province, causing local traffic jams in some areas.

On the occasion of three friends from the South visiting, Mr. Nguyen Duong (living in Hanoi) took the whole group to Ha Giang (Tuyen Quang) for 3 days to visit famous landmarks.

At noon on November 14th, four members of the group set off on two motorbikes from Ha Giang ward to Quan Ba - Yen Minh - Lung Cu.

At around 2:15 PM, Duong and his friends arrived at the Tham Ma Pass area – a famous pass located on National Highway 4C connecting Yen Minh and Dong Van. In front of him was a crowded area of tourists, with cars and motorbikes filling the road.

"Tourists stopping at Tham Ma slope to admire the view narrowed the road, leading to traffic jams. We had to weave our motorbikes through the traffic for nearly 15 minutes to get past this spot. Car drivers had to inch forward, sometimes almost coming to a standstill," a male tourist shared.

Meanwhile, it took Mr. Thien (a driver transporting tourists ) 30 minutes to get through the traffic jam on Tham Ma slope.

He said that at 2:30 PM, the traffic jam stretched for about 1 kilometer.

Fearing it would disrupt his customers' schedules, Thien didn't dare wait any longer. He decided to push his motorbike along the roadside ditch, luckily avoiding the traffic jam.

"I was stuck in traffic twice on my way from Dong Van to Quan Ba, at Can Ty Pass and Tham Ma Pass. These areas have beautiful scenery, so people stopped to take pictures and rest, causing traffic congestion," the male driver shared.

Having worked in the tourism service industry in Ha Giang for many years, Mr. Thien said that November is always the peak tourist season because the buckwheat flowers bloom profusely and the rainy season has ended. Therefore, some roads often experience localized traffic congestion.

For travelers arriving by car, waiting times in traffic jams ranging from 30 minutes to an hour can significantly impact their schedules.

Nhung and her group of 10 friends went on a weekend trip. They had anticipated the large number of tourists, but they didn't expect to experience such traffic jams at Quan Ba Sky Gate and the Lonely Pine Tree.

"At the Quan Ba Sky Gate area, workers are laying stones to repair the road surface after it was damaged by landslides caused by heavy rain and flooding, causing vehicles to move slowly and resulting in traffic congestion. At Tham Ma slope, too many cargo and tourist vehicles are stopped, making it difficult for people to move," said a female tourist.

At 1 PM, Nhung's group traveled by car from Yen Minh commune to the King of the Hmong's Mansion in Sa Phin commune. Due to traffic congestion, the female tourist only arrived at around 4:15 PM, an hour later than usual.

"The road is narrow, but some vehicles driving against the flow of traffic tried to encroach on the opposite lane, causing difficulties for other vehicles. At the section of road near the 'Lonely Tree' - an ancient 250-year-old ironwood tree growing alongside National Highway 4C - the convoy's car had to stand still for nearly 30 minutes before it could continue moving," she said.

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , a representative from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang province said that several factors have contributed to the sudden surge in the number of tourists at this time.

"This is the most beautiful time of year in Ha Giang, Yen Minh, Dong Van... Lo Lo Chai village has just been honored by the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as the "Best Tourist Village in the World 2025", Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark has been awarded the "Leading Cultural Destination in Asia" by the World Tourism Awards, buckwheat flowers are in full bloom, and the festival season... creates a strong attraction for tourists," the representative said.

According to the representative, the Department is aware of the traffic congestion occurring on some sections of the road due to the large number of passengers.

"The traffic congestion was only localized, and the authorities intervened promptly," the representative said.

To ensure a smooth trip, travelers should monitor the weather, plan their route carefully, and book accommodation and meals in advance.
