Representative of Korea Tourism Organization pays tribute to man selling fruit in Phu Quoc

(NLDO) - Representatives of the Korean Tourism Organization in Vietnam came to Phu Quoc to meet and thank fruit sellers for their actions in helping Korean tourists.

On November 15, Ms. Park Eun Jung - Chief Representative of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Vietnam - visited the house of Mr. Tran Hoang Phuong - a fruit seller in Phu Quoc special economic zone, An Giang province - to express gratitude and thanks for his actions in helping Korean tourists.

Accompanying the KTO delegation was a local government representative, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone.

Ms. Park Eun Jung said that her action of helping a Korean tourist find her lost mother during a trip on November 2 attracted great attention from the Korean community.

"Mr. Phuong's timely act of helping people is extremely meaningful. Not only did newspapers and radio stations in Vietnam report the news, but many news sites, newspapers and radio stations in Korea also reported it in series. Many Korean people expressed their emotion and gratitude for the kindness of the Vietnamese people, especially Mr. Phuong who did not hesitate to support a stranger in difficult times" - Ms. Park Eun Jung expressed.

The image of Mr. Phuong refusing to accept 500 USD as a thank you from a Korean tourist was reported by many domestic and Korean newspapers.

To express her gratitude, Ms. Park Eun Jung presented Mr. Phuong with a gift and a certificate of merit as a sincere thank you from Korea. At the same time, she said that Vietnam is currently one of the most favorite destinations of Korean tourists, and Korea is also the top choice of Vietnamese tourists.

"We are deeply moved by Mr. Phuong's noble gesture. This meaningful story contributes to vividly depicting the close relationship between the people of the two countries, not only in the field of tourism but also in daily life. In return, KTO will continue to make efforts so that Vietnamese people when visiting Korea can also feel the same joy and friendliness" - Ms. Park Eun Jung shared.

As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, on the afternoon of November 2, Mr. Phuong was sitting in front of his house when a Korean tourist ran to him, asking for help in finding his elderly mother who had just gotten lost during a family trip to Phu Quoc. Mr. Phuong immediately took his motorbike to take the Korean tourist to look for his mother, and at the same time posted the information on a group in Phu Quoc, asking for the community's support. After many hours of searching, Mr. Phuong and the Korean tourist found the old woman walking on the street with a cane.

To show his gratitude, the Korean man repeatedly put 500 USD in Mr. Phuong's hand, but he firmly refused.

On November 11, the Chairman of Phu Quoc Special Zone awarded a certificate of merit to Mr. Phuong for his outstanding achievements in helping foreign tourists find lost relatives.
