Opening of Vietnam Classical Music Festival in Da Lat mountain town

The first Vietnam Classical Music Festival took place in Da Lat, which was honored as a UNESCO Creative City of Music, bringing together more than 100 domestic and foreign artists.

On the afternoon of March 10, in the bustling spring atmosphere of the mountain town of Da Lat (Lam Dong), at the ancient villa area of ​​Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa, the Vietnam Classical Music Festival (VCMF 2024) opened with a music performance and a painting exhibition entitled Dialogue about Time by famous painter Nguyen Tu Nghiem.

Music lovers can immerse themselves in the powerful, vibrant melodies of Hanoi Brass Community, immerse themselves in the elegant tones of pianist Tran Le Bao Quyen, listen to the violin of the "natural talent" Tran Le Quang Tien, and enjoy Opera excerpts.

The organizers said that VCMF is not only a gathering place for talented artists from Vietnam and internationally such as Tim Allhoff, Kyle Acunicus, and prestigious music groups such as Song Hong Ensemble, Schubert in a Mug, Vietnam Youth Music Institute (VYMI); but also a launching pad for young talents such as The 6th Floor woodwind quintet, Beethoven Piano Quartet and Milhaud Trio, promising to bring unique and new musical experiences.

The event also marked the appearance of musiceducation projects such as Slide on Strings led by violist Pham Vu Thien Bao and violinist Le Minh Hien, and the Vietnam Youth Orchestra (VYO) under the direction of conductor Phan Do Phuc.

According to the organizers, VCMF 2024 will take place from March 10 to 17, bringing together more than 100 domestic and foreign artists; with 17 performances, 3 seminars, and masterclasses at 5 locations across the city, aiming to open up a space to enjoy top-notch and diverse academic art.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, curator Nguyen Nhu Huy said: "The 2024 Vietnam Classical Music Festival in Da Lat is not only a music festival, but also a festival of spirit, culture and creativity. In the romantic and dreamy space of Da Lat, VCMF 2024 is a meeting place for music lovers and also a rare opportunity to explore the subtle combination of music and painting".

In particular, during the VCMF 2024, at Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa, the exhibition Dialogue on Time will also be held, so that the audience can immerse themselves in the unique painting world of the famous painter Nguyen Tu Nghiem, one of the "four modern pillars" of Vietnamese painting. The exhibition includes 12 original versions of the zodiac works, masterpieces that are first published in the mountain town of Da Lat in an ancient French villa, very suitable for the colors of music and painting.

Previously, on the morning of Sunday, March 10, at the Dalat Art Street, Stop And Go organized the opening event of VCMF 2024 with an impressive brass and piano concert Sound of Brass . For the first time, the piano was performed right on the streets of Dalat by famous artists, attracting a large number of people from the mountain town and tourists to enjoy.

VCMF is organized with the aim of popularizing and enhancing the value of classical music, creating a creative and sustainable playground for the classical music community in Vietnam and internationally.
