On the afternoon of May 30, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission chaired and coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Journalists Association , Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Television, National Political Publishing House Truth, to organize a national scientific conference with the theme "100 years of Vietnamese revolutionary press accompanying the glorious cause of the Party and the nation" (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
Attending the workshop were Politburo members: Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia; Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang.
Attending the workshop were members of the Party Central Committee, former members of the Party Central Committee; leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, mass organizations, Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Departments of provincial/municipal Party Committees, Journalists Associations at all levels, press agencies, magazines, experts, scientists , veteran journalists...
Maintaining the position of Vietnamese revolutionary press in the international arena
Reviewing the 100-year history of construction and development, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu affirmed that Vietnam's revolutionary press has made strong progress in both the quantity and quality of programs and publication content; and has initially mastered modern media technology.
Many press agencies have developed into multimedia press agencies on par with the region and the world. The team of journalists is increasingly strong in political will, good in professional skills, exemplary in professional ethics and good in fulfilling social responsibilities.
Besides the positive aspects, the negative impacts of the market economy and the expansion of cooperation have had a significant impact on the press and the Vietnamese press.
The globalization process along with the explosion of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and social networks not only brings opportunities but also poses many challenges for revolutionary journalism.

To continue fulfilling the mission of accompanying the nation in the era of strong, civilized and prosperous development, the Standing Secretariat requires Party committees and press agencies, and Journalists Associations at all levels to thoroughly and deeply grasp the principle of the Party's absolute and comprehensive leadership over press activities to meet the requirements of the cause of innovation, national construction and development.
"This is a fundamental core issue that has been proven by the history of revolutionary journalism, and is the essence of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism," the Standing Member of the Secretariat stated.
The press must adhere closely to the Party's viewpoints, policies, and guidelines, closely follow the breath of life and the times, and regularly and continuously propagate major, important, and urgent matters that the entire Party and the entire political system are currently focusing on organizing and implementing.
Disseminate and reflect in-depth information, ensuring objectivity, timely and profound information about the preparation activities for Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress; promptly reflect the thoughts and aspirations of cadres, party members and people.
Along with that, we must actively and resolutely innovate and streamline the press agency system in the direction of streamlining, continuing to innovate, improving the quality, attractiveness, and persuasiveness of the information and propaganda work of the press system.
"Each press agency must operate in accordance with its principles and purposes in summarizing practical developments in theories on the Party's guidelines and viewpoints and the State's legal policies on publications, platforms and types of press, especially on the Internet and social networks, contributing to protecting, building and developing the country," the Standing Secretariat requested.
Paying special attention to the issue of professional ethics, the Standing Secretariat emphasized that, on the basis of press ethics regulations, each press agency can issue its own regulations suitable to the characteristics of each type of press and the reality of the agency or unit.
Press agencies need to closely coordinate with the Journalists Association at all levels, strengthen the management of the press team associated with the responsibility of the leaders in the press agency and the Journalists Association organization.

The Standing Secretariat requires journalists to properly implement the principles and purposes of the press agency; focus on improving the quality of training, fostering, and cultivating the moral qualities and working capacity of journalists and media workers.
Building a team of reporters and editors with strong political will, good professional skills, and clear professional ethics, who are truly exemplary, pioneering examples on all fronts, especially on the information and propaganda front to fight against peaceful evolution, self-evolution, and self-transformation within the organization.
At the same time, promote research, exploitation and application of scientific and technological achievements in digital transformation; press associated with administrative reform to build professional press agencies, operate effectively, efficiently and integrate internationally.
Strengthen the presence of revolutionary journalism on social platforms; master the information and propaganda front in the face of the development of cross-border digital platforms, maintain the brand and position of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism in the international arena.
The Standing Secretariat affirmed: "The Party and State always have high expectations and create the most favorable conditions for the press to perform its functions and tasks well."
The workshop is an opportunity to summarize the glorious 100-year history of the formation, construction and development of the Vietnamese revolutionary press; clarify the historical role, mission, achievements and important contributions to the cause of national construction and development; share and discuss challenges, opportunities and requirements, tasks and solutions for the Vietnamese revolutionary press in the new era of national development.
The Standing Secretariat requested the Organizing Committee to study, absorb, and synthesize the delegates' enthusiastic comments and suggestions into proposals and recommendations to report to the Party and State leaders for comments, especially in the fields related to the organization and operation mechanism of the press.
Developing Vietnamese Revolutionary Press in the New Era
In his opening speech and introduction to the Workshop, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that the presentations focus on affirming the Party's leadership role and the State's management of the press, considering this a prerequisite for the press to develop in the right direction and fulfill its mission as the voice of the Party, State and people.
At the same time, promoting the positive role of the press contributes to consolidating and improving the effectiveness of the Party's leadership and the State's management in the process of innovation, integration and development. Accordingly, it is necessary to perfect the legal system on the press in accordance with the digital context, promptly supplement new regulations to ensure a clear and transparent legal environment, creating favorable conditions for innovation while still maintaining political orientation; strengthen inspection and examination to prevent and prevent violations.
In addition, it is necessary to focus on improving the political capacity, professional ethics and professional capacity of journalists; focusing on training, fostering and updating knowledge of political theory and professional skills; strictly implementing the Press Law, the 10 professional ethics of journalists and studying and following the ideology, ethics and style of President Ho Chi Minh.

Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang requested to strongly promote the application of digital technology in journalism activities, especially artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing... to meet the requirements of comprehensive digital transformation to improve the efficiency of newsroom management, shorten information processing time, personalize content suitable for each public group, thereby expanding influence and the ability to lead public opinion.
"The press needs to promote its role as a timely and effective propaganda channel for the Party's current new policies and decisions, especially widely propagating Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party," said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang.
Continue to reorganize the apparatus and innovate the press's operating methods towards being streamlined, strong, effective, efficient, and effective, adapting to new requirements for modern media management and administration models.
After merging press agencies, it is necessary to quickly stabilize the organization, personnel, and resolve appropriate policies and regimes for staff, ensuring that professional quality is not affected.
Along with strengthening international cooperation in the field of journalism and communication to gradually approach the development level of global journalism, it is necessary to proactively exchange and cooperate with countries and international organizations on technology, content production techniques, human resource training and modern journalism management; learn effective methods, critical thinking skills, integrate global culture and enhance the image and position of the country in the international media space.
With pride in the glorious tradition and great contributions of the press to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, promoting the sense of responsibility, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang believes that the Workshop will bring practical results, with many recommendations and proposals of breakthrough solutions to develop the Vietnamese revolutionary press on par with the requirements of national development in the new era, the era of national growth.
Truly a bridge between the Party, the State and the people
Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia in his closing speech emphasized that with a scientific, serious and urgent spirit, the Workshop implemented the correct purpose, requirements, and proposed contents and achieved great success.

Summarizing a number of key issues, the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission pointed out that the press is a sharp ideological and cultural tool of the Party, therefore maintaining the Party's leadership is an immutable principle. Continuing the tradition of Revolutionary Journalism over the past 100 years, the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission requested to continue building, consolidating and elevating a future generation of journalists with "sharp pens, pure hearts and bright minds," imbued with the spirit of serving the country and the people.
In an effort to improve the quality of training to meet the requirements of the new era, journalists must be good at their profession, have profound political theory, understand the realities of social life, and be proficient in applying technology.
Along with that, it is necessary to build institutions and policies with orientation and create an environment for the healthy development of the press; urgently complete the legal corridor, focusing on amending and supplementing the 2016 Press Law and documents guiding its implementation; update and institutionalize the Party's new viewpoints and policies, especially the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on scientific and technological breakthroughs, innovation and digital transformation.
Promote research, exploitation and application of scientific and technological achievements, especially information technology and artificial intelligence; carry out digital transformation of journalism associated with administrative reform, build professional press agencies, operate effectively, efficiently and integrate internationally; strengthen the presence of revolutionary journalism on social networking platforms, master the information and propaganda front in the face of the development of cross-border digital platforms; maintain the brand and position of Vietnamese journalism in the flow of international journalism and media, contributing to the successful implementation of the task of building and defending the Fatherland.
To improve the economic efficiency of journalism, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that it is necessary to boldly research and develop new business models suitable for the digital environment.
The State needs to create a favorable legal corridor and provide initial support for testing and promoting the development of the press economic model in the right direction. In addition, it is necessary to continue to maintain and improve the ordering mechanism and support from the state budget for content and publications serving political and foreign affairs tasks, remote areas, ethnic minorities, etc. to ensure that the press fulfills its social responsibilities well.
At the same time, it is necessary to promote international cooperation in journalism and media; increase exchanges with partners on how to organize, manage, and produce journalism and media content; exchange technology and production techniques; train and foster high-quality human resources; share visions and understanding of international journalism and media trends...
After absorbing the profound contributions of delegates and scientists, after the Workshop, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission and the agencies hosting the Workshop will distill the contributions into proposals and recommendations for the Party and State leaders to comment on building a strategy for developing revolutionary journalism in the new era.
