Opening of the 2023 National Championships for Swimming and Chess for the Disabled

Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, attended.

The tournament has 229 athletes competing, including 155 swimmers and 74 chess players. The athletes come from 13 provinces and cities across the country including Can Tho, Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Soc Trang, Son La, Tien Giang, Ho Chi Minh City, Thua Thien Hue, Vinh Phuc, Quang Nam and Thai Nguyen. The athletes compete at 02 locations, specifically swimming at Anh Vien Swimming Club, National Defense Sports Center 4 - Military Region 9, with a total of 115 events; chess at Van Phat Riverside Hotel, with 36 events. The tournament takes place from August 14 to August 20.

With the message of “Solidarity - Integration - Fairness - Compassion”, the 2023 National Championships for Swimming and Chess for the Disabled is an opportunity for disabled athletes to exchange, learn from each other’s experiences and strengthen solidarity. The tournament also aims to select and test the abilities of athletes preparing to participate in the 4th Asian Para Games - 2023 in China.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to the coaches who led the disabled sports team to achieve achievements in 2022.
