Son Tay City Party Secretary Tran Anh Tuan said that since its inception in 2022, the cultural space and walking street around Son Tay Citadel have become an interesting weekend destination for locals and tourists. Not only does it offer a unique cultural experience, but it also hosts bustling shopping and business activities, contributing significantly to local economic development.
Notably, after 3 years of pilot implementation, the walking street welcomed more than 1.3 million visitors, on average attracting about 10,000 visitors each night, with some evenings increasing to 25,000-30,000 visitors.
To create the attractiveness of the walking street, Son Tay town has built a walking path, planted trees around the Citadel area, raised nearly 200 pigeons, decorated 250 lanterns in the walking path area, brought water into the Citadel moat..., turning the walking street space into a space of community culture and art.

The Center for Culture - Information and Sports, the Youth Union and art clubs, groups, and socio-political organizations of the town participate in organizing cultural and artistic activities at the central stage and stage locations in the area.
In the past 3 years, the Phung Hung Nam ethnic wrestling competition was also held at the walking street of Son Tay Citadel with many athletes from provinces and cities participating in the competition; the Mid-Autumn Festival of the Citadel in 2022, 2023, Doai Melody and the Miss Ao Dai Vietnam Heritage contest in 2024 have contributed to promoting and attracting tens of thousands of more tourists to the walking street of Son Tay Citadel.
With outstanding achievements in managing, preserving and promoting the value of historical and cultural relics associated with sustainable tourism economic development, in 2024, the Party Committee, government and people of the town were honored to receive the Second Class Labor Medal from the President.
At the program, Son Tay town opened the Son Tay - Xu Doai Tourism Year 2025. This is an important event, creating a new development premise for Son Tay tourism, contributing to promoting the image of Son Tay - Xu Doai land and people, and boosting the local socio-economy.

Within the framework of the program, Son Tay town organized an art program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, to review the heroic traditions of the nation, multiply pride and aspirations for innovation and development.
On this occasion, many groups and individuals were commended by the People's Committee of Son Tay city and town.
