Đảng Cộng SảnĐảng Cộng Sản16/11/2023

The exhibition attracts businesses from Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, including manufacturing businesses that are in line with new trends; businesses that cultivate and develop raw material areas; businesses that provide services and solutions for green production and circular production such as smart production, new generation packaging, new materials, etc.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan said that green growth and sustainable development are inevitable, irreversible requirements and a global trend in the current period. The national strategy on green growth sets out the general goal of promoting economic restructuring associated with growth model innovation, environmental sustainability and social equity, along with four specific goals: reducing greenhouse gas emissions intensity per GDP; greening the economy; greening lifestyles and promoting sustainable consumption; greening the transition process on the principles of equality, inclusion and resilience enhancement.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan said that to achieve the above goals, the City has been making many efforts in this work. The City determined that economic growth must be associated with sustainable development and requires mutual sharing, sharing from leading countries, experienced experts and proactive contributions from the business community. At the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2023, the City received many policy ideas from experts and policymakers on green economic development; especially ideas of long-term strategy, models, and specific actions of each industry and each locality.

At the same time, the City always determines that the development of Ho Chi Minh City is always closely linked to the development of other localities; in which, building a green supply chain, a sustainable supply chain from farming, planting, harvesting, storing, preliminary processing, processing, production... to consumption is one of the key tasks of the City and provinces and cities. That is also the reason why the City hosts the Mekong Connect Forum 2023, which is also a specific content of the Socio-Economic Development Cooperation Program between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities.

The exhibition activities at this year's Mekong Connect Forum, with the theme "Vietnam's Green and Sustainable Economy"; are a place to showcase initiatives, solutions, business models, or new products following contemporary economic trends, based on standards and oriented towards export, including: circular economic models, climate adaptation models, digitalization and digital transformation, environmentally friendly and healthy products, production systems that meet international standards for sustainable development, raw material areas that meet export standards, recycling solutions, energy-saving technologies, alternative energy sources.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan hopes that, through the exhibition in particular, the Mekong Connect Forum 2023 in general will be a specific and practical activity to promote connections, forming contact channels between provincial and municipal governments, between businesses and governments; contributing to solving problems arising in trade activities and goods circulation between Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities; proposing solutions that can be implemented in the legal, economic, social environment..., in line with the development policies and orientations of the City and localities./.
