Inspired by the spirit of “thanh” - clear, pure and “tan” - new, creative, the exhibition “Thanh Tan Hanoi ” introduces more than 90 paintings by professional and amateur artists, bringing youthful perspectives on Hanoi past and present. Each painting is a slice of the city that is both familiar and new; both nostalgic and full of life.

Mr. Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, spoke at the ceremony.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam said: “The exhibition “Thanh Tan Hanoi” is an activity within the framework of the “Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025”, and is also the launching event of a new creative space at Ho Van. I hope that, with this start, in the coming time, Ho Van space will continue to welcome many young people, artists and creative groups to organize artistic activities, contributing to bringing new vitality to the heritage. Our goal is to build Ho Van into a cultural center of the capital, where visitors can experience unique ecological, cultural and performing arts spaces, an increasingly attractive destination of Hanoi”.

Delegates cut the ribbon to open the "New Hanoi" painting exhibition.

The exhibition is divided into three themes, including: “Heritage & Architecture” honoring the ancient beauty of the streets, temples, Long Bien Bridge, Hoan Kiem Lake; “Contemporary Life” reflecting the dynamic and creative lifestyle of the young generation; “Open Creative Space” where folk art is revived through bamboo, do paper, coconut leaves, and wood. The exhibition is designed as an “art village in the heart of heritage”, with bamboo frames, ropes, dragonflies, carp, grasshoppers and pandan leaves interwoven with paintings, creating a sense of closeness and liveliness. Viewers can directly participate in experiential activities such as sketching, printing, creating crafts, or chatting with artists.

In addition to the display, the exhibition also has a series of creative workshops called “Touching art, living with heritage”, with activities such as: Combining ideas - printing colors, painting on conical hats, drawing mountains and rivers, transforming trees and leaves, golden imprints and negative sketches. These activities help viewers directly “touch - do - live” with art, bringing paintings out of the frame and closer to everyday life.

Young people participate in workshops at the event.

The exhibition is open until November 9, 2025.
