A representative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province said on June 11 that Port No. 4, Bac Cua Viet Wharf Area has just been officially announced to be open for operation by the Vietnam Maritime Administration and Waterways ( Ministry of Construction ).
This is an important tourist port, aiming to better meet the travel needs of people and tourists on the Cua Viet - Con Co island route, while opening up great prospects for the development of sea and island tourism in Quang Tri province.
The operation of Cua Viet tourist port is expected to create an important boost for the development of the tourist route to Con Co island district, a strategic step in the plan to form the Cua Viet-Cua Tung-Con Co tourist triangle, contributing to connecting services, exploiting the potential of the sea and islands and enhancing the tourism brand of Quang Tri in the coming time.
Port No. 4 is located in the seaport waters announced by the Ministry of Transport under Circular No. 57/2018/TT-BGTVT dated December 14, 2018, in Cua Viet town, Gio Linh district.
According to the assignment, Hue Maritime Port Authority is the unit responsible for specialized State management of maritime in this area, and at the same time collects fees in accordance with legal regulations.
The port is allowed to receive passenger ships with suitable tonnage and technical specifications, ensuring standards on maritime safety, maritime security, fire prevention and fighting, and environmental protection during operation.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province organizes the exploitation of the port for the right purpose, is responsible for operating and coordinating ships and performing periodic dredging, ensuring the design depth.
The Cua Viet tourist port construction project started in July 2023 and has now been completed with a total investment of VND 55 billion from a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The project includes a one-storey train station (area 340m2, height 6.7m), parking garage (68m2), train platform and construction area (2,500m2).
The traffic route connecting National Highway 9D to the port is 369m long, with a cross-section of 22.5m wide. The tourist port system includes a pier 70m long, 10m wide, capable of receiving 200-passenger ships; an approach bridge 18.5m long, 5m wide; breakwaters, beach roads and auxiliary items are invested synchronously.
