After being hit by consecutive storms accompanied by heavy rains, many northern provinces have recorded widespread flooding, causing serious damage to production. According to reports, a total of about 114,882 hectares of crops, mainly rice, vegetables, industrial crops and fruit trees, have been damaged.
Faced with the improving weather conditions, favorable for production recovery, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection has requested localities to focus on synchronously implementing many key solutions:
Overcome consequences and speed up the season
Localities must mobilize all resources to overcome the consequences, immediately restore production, and strive to achieve and exceed the planned winter-spring crop production target in 2025.
In particular, it is necessary to take advantage of sunny weather conditions to prepare the land for early winter crop planting, ensuring the right time frame. For the affected areas of warm-loving winter crops, farmers need to actively plow and break up the crust, use composted manure combined with NPK mineral fertilizer and spray growth stimulants (such as PennacP, Kali humate...) to enhance recovery ability.
Reasonable seed structure and intensive investment
The Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection requires provinces to arrange reasonable land funds, select suitable seed structures, and plant as soon as possible for warm-loving plants.
For the group of vegetables and beans, it is necessary to arrange planting in many fields, spread out the crop, concentrate on planting on high land areas, high hills to harvest products as soon as possible, timely supply of vegetables to the market, especially before and after Tet. Localities also need to encourage increased investment in intensive farming, expanding production areas in the direction of ensuring quality and food hygiene and safety.
Ensure material quality and production safety
To protect production results, the Department recommends that the Departments strengthen field inspections and closely monitor the emergence and damage of major pests for timely handling.
Another urgent task is to organize strict inspections and supervision of production and trading units of plant varieties, fertilizers, and pesticides, resolutely preventing the circulation of fake and poor-quality goods that negatively affect farmers' production.
Provinces need to actively transfer technical advances, replicate effective production chain linkage models, and organize forums and fairs to provide information on markets and product consumption, helping people to soon stabilize and restore their economies .
