(Baohatinh.vn) - Through screening 2,671 women, Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control discovered 1,572 cases with abnormal signs of mammary and thyroid glands.

From early September to October 23, the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control organized screening for early detection of breast cancer and thyroid cancer for 2,671 women aged 30 to 55 with risk factors in 23 communes in the province.

The activity aims to detect common cancers in women early, contributing to raising awareness and preventing non-communicable diseases in the community. Women are screened using 3D ultrasound probes of the breast and thyroid glands, directly performed by a team of doctors from the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control.

The program was divided into 2 working groups, each group consisted of 5 medical staff, including 2 doctors who took turns going to each locality to examine, provide health advice and provide post-screening follow-up instructions. Initial results showed that, of the 2,671 women examined, 1,572 cases were found to have abnormal signs of the mammary glands and thyroid glands.

Master Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control said: After screening, cases with abnormal signs of the breast and thyroid glands are listed for management, consultation, supervision and periodic health monitoring at lower-level medical facilities. Breast and thyroid cancer screening is one of the key tasks of the unit in 2025, aiming to effectively implement the plan to prevent non-communicable diseases and protect women's health in the province.
