Inadequate signs on Le Duan Street, Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province were reported by the press.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Construction requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct the Departments of Construction and Transport and Public Works to urgently review and handle existing problems and inadequacies in traffic organization such as the system of signs, traffic lights, licensing, arrangement of stops, parking, and vehicle storage, causing traffic conflicts. At the same time, deploy forces and clear the road to ensure that signs are easy to observe and not obscured; repaint faded paint lines at intersections with traffic lights.
The People's Committees of provinces and cities require units to identify the review and handling of existing problems and shortcomings in traffic organization as an important, urgent and regular task.
For complex problems and shortcomings, it is necessary to develop plans, estimate costs, and prioritize resource allocation to promptly handle them as soon as possible. Report the implementation results to the Ministry of Construction before May 5, 2025.
Regarding the Vietnam Road Administration, the Ministry of Construction requested this unit to direct the Road Management Areas to handle existing problems and shortcomings in traffic organization. In addition, coordinate with relevant units to review and evaluate existing problems and shortcomings in traffic organization, especially in the management of stops, parking and vehicle storage.
Regarding this issue, Mr. Le Hong Diep, Head of Traffic Organization Management Department, Vietnam Road Administration said that, implementing the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the Ministry of Construction, Vietnam Road Administration has issued many documents requesting relevant units to review and handle inadequacies in traffic signs, traffic lights, licensing, and arrangement of stops and parking lots.
Through screening, there are more than 5,200 traffic light intersection clusters, of which more than 3,400 clusters have been handed over to the Traffic Police force, and 1,770 clusters are completing related procedures for handover as soon as possible.
Through a review within the Ministry's management, 586 clusters of lights were found to be defective. Units have handled and repaired 139 clusters, and are urgently continuing to repair 447 clusters. In addition, there are nearly 7,000 defective road signs; units have handled nearly 4,400 signs, and are continuing to handle 2,576.
