Attending the inauguration ceremony were Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam; Permanent Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Truc Son.
The temple of Lieutenant General Dong Van Cong was built and put into use in 2009 on an area of 1,200m² with the following items: temple, memorial house, and ceremony yard. After 16 years of use, the temple has deteriorated and needs to be restored.
Up to now, the temple has been restored in the following categories: main temple, exhibition house, guard house, toilet, gate and fence... with a total cost of 2 billion VND, mobilized from socialized sources.

Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Giong Trom District, Le Van Tuong, requested the Relic Management Board to uphold its sense of responsibility and preserve valuable historical documents and artifacts about the life and career of the late Lieutenant General Dong Van Cong. At the same time, it is necessary to develop regulations and rules to protect and promote the value of the relic, creating favorable conditions for tourists and people to visit and learn.
At the same time, connecting with existing cultural and historical relics in the district to create "back to the source" tourism routes to learn about "red addresses". Thereby, developing this place into a destination toeducate about traditions, promote the culture and history of the homeland to domestic and international friends.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 1 collective and 2 individuals who actively supported the material repair of the Temple of Lieutenant General Dong Van Cong.

Lieutenant General Dong Van Cong, alias Hong Ky, his battlefield name was Chin Hong (1918 – 2005). His hometown was Giong Ong Xom hamlet, Tan Hao commune, Giong Trom district. He was the one who founded the Tan Hao commune guerrilla team, which later developed into the 99th Regiment. This was the first armed force of Ben Tre, with him as the Regiment Commander.
He held many important positions in the Vietnam People's Army such as: Commander of Military Region 7, Commander of Military Region 8, Head of Military Region 9 (later Military Region 9 Command), Deputy Commander of the Southern Command, Deputy Inspector General of the Vietnam People's Army, Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
