On the afternoon of September 5, Cho Ray Hospital announced that it had successfully treated patient VTD, 46 years old (living in Dong Nai ) who had urinary tract tuberculosis, painful urination, and persistent bleeding for 7 years without improvement, seriously affecting his quality of life.
Urinary tract tuberculosis is difficult to detect and can be easily confused with other sexually transmitted diseases.
Mr. D. had a general health check-up at the Cho Ray Vietnam-Japan Health Check-up Center (HECI), had a full-body CT scan (640 slices) and was found to have grade 1 hydronephrosis in the right kidney, mild thickening of the renal pelvis and ureter, mild surrounding fat infiltration, and thickening of the bladder wall.
The patient was consulted by the Urology Department of Cho Ray Hospital and suspected of having tuberculosis, admitted to the hospital, and had a bladder biopsy. Test results showed that Mr. D. had urinary tract tuberculosis. After more than 6 months of treatment, he was completely cured.
MSc. Dr. Do Van Cong, Department of Urology, Cho Ray Hospital, said that urinary tuberculosis is a benign disease that can be completely cured without leaving any sequelae if detected early. However, early diagnosis is often quite difficult, because the symptoms are not specific and can be easily confused with other reproductive diseases. If the disease is not detected in time, it can easily cause serious complications that affect the patient's health and even pose a risk of infertility.
