The 2024 Victory Cup award ceremony took place in Hanoi on the evening of January 10. This is an annual award honoring individuals and groups who have contributed to Vietnamese sports .
Photographer Nguyen Quang Minh and striker Nguyen Xuan Son were honored in the category "Most impressive image of the year". The photo captured the moment the striker born in 1997 scored his first goal for the Vietnamese national team.
"Hello everyone. I'm Nguyen Xuan Son," the Vietnamese player said in Vietnamese as he received the Victory Cup in the hospital. He has just undergone surgery and is undergoing rehabilitation after breaking his leg in the 2024 AFF Cup final.

Xuan Son added: "I am very happy. I have a lot of emotions in this special moment of my life. I want to thank everyone who supported me. It is so happy to be the champion."
The most important categories of the 2024 Victory Cup are athlete of the year, coach of the year and team of the year. The Victory Cup awards for male and female athletes of the year 2024 went to Tran Quyet Chien and Trinh Thu Vinh.
"I am very honored to receive the Victory Cup. This is a great motivation for me to strive in the following years. I hope that I and other athletes in the future, in tournaments in 2025 and beyond, will try to bring glory to the country," Trinh Thu Vinh shared after receiving the Victory Cup from Nguyen Thi Anh Vien - who has won this title three times.
The national women's volleyball team was named "Team of the Year" after winning the AVC Challenger Cup, placing third at the FIVB Challenger Cup and qualifying for the world championships for the first time. The women's 4x400m relay team, consisting of Quach Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Hang, Nguyen Thi Ngoc and Hoang Thi Minh Hanh, won the "Team of the Year" award.
Coach of the Year was awarded to Mr. Luu Van Hoan, who helped Vietnamese canoeing win 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal at the Asian Games, and 6 gold medals at the Asian Youth Games. The outstanding foreign expert was Mr. Park Chung-gun (shooting).
