When it comes to the Baby Boomers generation - those born between 1946 and 1964, many people assume that this is the age when they need to "slow down". But according to the latest survey from Booking.com on travel trends in 2025, the "retired" tourists in Vietnam are completely redefining that concept. Up to 50% of Vietnamese Baby Boomers are interested in physical activities such as... horse riding, 37% are willing to spend money on a trip of a lifetime, instead of saving up to leave behind an inheritance.
So where are they going, what are they doing, and how do they want to enjoy their old age?
When old age is no longer a limit
Although they are no longer in their prime, many older travelers say they feel more motivated than ever to live each day to the fullest. The conversation is no longer about “retiring and returning to the countryside to live a peaceful life”, but rather about taking advantage of this precious time to do the things they have dreamed of but have not yet done.
And Vietnam with its diverse landscape from high mountains, blue seas to rivers and gardens becomes the ideal place for this generation to begin their journey of discovery .

For those who want to experience the true feeling of "spreading your wings", paragliding in Yen Bai or paragliding in Nha Trang is an ideal choice. Not only satisfying the spirit of adventure, these experiences also bring emotional sublimation: from the feeling of floating in the sky to the exciting moment of touching the ground.
If Yen Bai stands out with its magnificent picture of terraced fields in the ripe rice season, Nha Trang is enchanting with the emerald green color of the sea. Even if it is the first time trying out the thrill, elderly customers can still rest assured because all services are accompanied by professional tour guides.
For those who do not like heights or speed, but still like a gentle adventure, exploring Ben Tre by boat and motorbike is an interesting experience. Riding a motorbike through the coconut-lined roads, stopping to taste fruit from the garden, then drifting on a small boat along the gentle river, all make Baby Boomer tourists feel like reliving a part of their childhood memories.
This trip is not exactly noisy or physically challenging, but it is a gentle "touch" to the soul. Something many people seek after a lifetime of wandering.
Sandboarding, kayaking, camping: who says only young people do it?
At Quang Phu sand hill (Quang Binh), sand sliding, a common activity in videos of young people, attracts many people of retirement age. With terrain that is not too dangerous, this experience is both fun and "stimulating" enough to make the hearts of older people beat a little faster, but still safe.
Similarly, in Phu Quoc, activities such as kayaking, sea walking, or coral viewing are becoming favorite choices for those who want to "touch the ocean" in the closest and safest way. The gentle paddling rhythm, clear water, and fine white sand beaches... create an ideal setting to regain the balance between body - mind - spirit.
If you want to "backpack" without having to carry a heavy backpack, the glamping sites at Tri An Lake (Dong Nai) are a destination worth considering. Just enough amenities, just enough wildness, this place offers the experience of "escaping" in the middle of nature while still maintaining comfort, suitable for many ages. When night falls, the whole sky full of stars is like an invitation to slow down, contemplate the universe and yourself.

Retirement life is no longer confined to quiet resorts or safe “old people” tours. Today’s Baby Boomers are choosing their own travel style, from skydiving to river journeys.
They are not afraid to try new things, not afraid to step out of their comfort zone and especially, do not let age stop their passion for discovery. Whether it is sandboarding in Quang Binh or kayaking in Phu Quoc, the most precious thing is that they live every moment to the fullest, the true meaning of a dream retirement.
"I used to think that at 60, I would stay home and take care of my grandchildren. But now I just want to spend time traveling and experiencing things. Life is about enjoying yourself before your body says goodbye to your health," Ms. Hue (67 years old, Tan Hung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) shared after returning from a trip to Lam Dong.
