Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy said that according to the Global Innovation Index 2025 report of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Vietnam ranked 44th out of 139 countries and territories; ranked 10th out of 17 economies in Southeast Asia, East Asia and Oceania.

In particular, according to Startup Blink, Ho Chi Minh City's innovative startup ecosystem continues to grow, ranking 110/1,000 global cities and 3rd in Southeast Asia.
“These figures affirm the attractiveness of the Ho Chi Minh City creative startup ecosystem - a place that continuously nurtures breakthrough ideas and promotes creative startups to reach international standards,” emphasized Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy.

According to the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the issuance of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW by the Politburo on science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation has created a foundation for the whole country to enter a new stage of development.

In particular, Ho Chi Minh City identifies innovation as the key driving force for developing a knowledge-based economy and transforming the growth model. The city aims to become an international innovation center by 2030, with the digital economy contributing 30% - 40% of GRDP, social spending on research and development reaching 2% - 3% of GRDP, and spending at least 4% - 5% of the total annual budget on science, technology and digital transformation.

The city government is committed to always accompanying the innovation community in every stage of development, while maximizing its role in guiding, leading, connecting, cooperating and sharing.
“This is not only a task but also a strategic vision to promote innovation, contributing to positioning Ho Chi Minh City as the leading innovation center of the region and the world,” affirmed the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City Tran Trong Tuyen said that the city currently possesses many advantages such as the High-Tech Park, High-Tech Agricultural Park, a strong research university system, venture capital funds and a young force with great potential. The most important thing, according to Mr. Tuyen, is the spirit of innovation and the desire to create new values of the community.
He believes that WISE HCMC + 2025 is only truly meaningful if, after the event, each person brings with them an idea that dares to experiment, a connection for cooperation, or a project that can be implemented.

From there, the Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology called on: entrepreneurs to invest in innovation as investing in their own future; startups to look to the region and the world; young people to be pioneers and take action; the community to work together to spread knowledge and transfer technology into life.
