"Bright spot" of advanced new rural areas

In 2017, Thien Hung commune was recognized as meeting the NTM standards. However, at that time, the commune's achievement rate was only about 50% compared to the advanced NTM criteria. This requires the Party Committee, government and people of the commune to continue promoting internal resources, taking advantage of external resources, gradually perfecting and improving the quality of the criteria to not only meet the standards but also exceed the standards. After 7 years of continuous efforts, by the end of 2024, Thien Hung officially reached the advanced NTM finish line. This achievement is not only meaningful in terms of title but also a testament to the strong transformation of this border locality.

After many years of efforts and endeavors of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, in 2024 Thien Hung was honored to receive the title of advanced new rural commune.

To achieve that result, in addition to investment from the budget, the role of local people is a key factor. From seemingly small tasks such as cleaning the environment, planting trees in front of the house, concreting alleys to contributing money and working days, Thien Hung people have clearly demonstrated their spirit of solidarity, responsibility and determination to work with the local government to change the face of their homeland.

Mr. Nguyen Sy Quoc, Chairman of Thien Hung Commune People's Committee shared: "The role of the people is very important, especially in criteria such as environmental sanitation, building clean and safe village roads and alleys. Each household commits not to violate the law, and to implement the criteria of "green - clean - bright". From that basis, the commune government has the conditions to organize extensive and effective emulation movements in each village and hamlet."

This spirit has been widely spread in the community. Real stories from the people are evidence of the positive change in awareness and action of the people in the border area. Ms. Vo Thi Nam, a resident of Village 2, excitedly shared: “Everyone joins hands to contribute to building the advanced NTM. Thanks to that, the infrastructure is now much more developed than before. Electricity, lighting, clean concrete roads, convenient travel”.

Infrastructure is invested synchronously

In the period of 2017-2024, Thien Hung commune mobilized more than 342 billion VND to invest in infrastructure construction in the area. Of which, the budget capital was more than 321 billion VND, the rest was the contribution of people and businesses of nearly 21 billion VND. This is an impressive number, demonstrating high political determination and great consensus from the community in the construction of new rural areas. As a result, the rural appearance of Thien Hung changes every day. Roads are expanded, concreted and have a safe lighting system. Schools, medical stations, and cultural houses are invested in construction or renovation, meeting the needs of learning, medical examination and treatment and community activities of the people.

After many years of consolidation and construction, rural roads in Thien Hung commune have become spacious and clean.

Infrastructure of markets, electricity, roads, schools and stations are well invested.

Mr. Dieu Can, Head of Thien Cu village, said: “The most obvious changes are the roads and schools. Schools have been repaired, expanded, and are more spacious; rural roads have been invested in synchronously. That is why people are very happy and excited.”

Not only stopping at the infrastructure, the socio-economic indicators have also improved significantly. Up to now, 100% of households have access to national grid electricity and clean water. The poverty rate has decreased significantly, the whole commune now has only 9 poor households. The average income per capita reaches more than 80 million VND/year, a fairly high income for rural areas, especially in border areas.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ngan, a resident of village 4, shared: “Over the past 3 years, the movement to build new rural areas in village 4 has achieved positive results, the appearance of the countryside changes every day. People's lives have improved, and jobs are stable.”

Thien Hung Commune is continuing to focus on improving the quality of the achieved criteria, striving to complete the unsustainable criteria, aiming to build the locality into a type V urban area in the coming time. This is an important turning point, opening up the prospect of stronger development in terms of socio-economy, infrastructure and living environment for the people. To realize that goal, the local government has determined to continue to take the people as the center, the subject in all development programs and plans. At the same time, it is necessary to increase the attraction of investment resources, promote administrative reform, support production development, create favorable conditions to improve income and quality of life for the people.
